Hello, I have seen a common problem among 2nd gen 4runners that have less tire/fender clearance in the rear then the front. Looks really bad. What is the easiest/cheapest way to raise the rear end about 2". Thanks

Blocks, Springs, shackles, Air shocks or all of the listed. Search around get some ideas and use what sutes you best!

you got sagging coils. I've never experienced it personally, but it's been known to be a common problem.

You got some choices, some are better than others but aren't necessarily cheaper.

1: a spacer. you still have the same characteristics as the spring you now, only the rear sits higher. Bottom out, weak, etc, etc
(personally, I wouldn't do it)

2: stock replacements. If I wanted stock height and a better, less prone to bottoming out coil, this is what I'd do.

3: ever want it lifted? now's the time. In my mind I'd deduct the price of a new or used coil from the cost of a lift coil replacement...then research lifting the front. CAUTION: it will handle extremely different and your CG will of course be higher (more prone to roll) but if you're a driver you'll know when (at least I hope) to get out of it before it does. And you'll be able to get those bigger meats under it.

bigger meats need lower gears. and thus, the cycle starts...

Search the web for someone that sells Old Man Emu coils, should be about $120-150 per pair. It's a very easy swap, and you'll get about 1.5" of lift in the rear too. If you don't wheel the truck, you won't need new shocks, brake lines, anti-swaybar links, etc. I've done many of them, HUGE improvement. Way better than the Downey coils too.

or....stock FJ80 rears (IIRC) :D

I think I've got the end wrong, but find somebody lifting their 80 and smooch a pair..

I have had the Downey coils on mine for about 4 years without any issues. They have not sagged since the day I put them on. Even under a lot of weight in the back and towing a trailer they do not sag. Don't know anything about the OME coils.
