Yup, just got the truck back and already a problem. I was doing right around 60 just now going into work. Then the heard a short grind noise out of nowhere. It went away. Then it can back and got longer and louder. Now it's making some horrific noises and I don't have a clue at what it could be. The transfer stick is vibrating a lot and the noise seems to be coming from it. Nothing is leaking that I can see and I can start up just fine and put into gear fine.

Help!! What should I be looking at? Note, I have no tools on me :(

I would not drive it until you pull it and open it up. Depending on what is wrong it might ruin more parts the more you drive it.

WOW call a tow truck, that sounds awful. It almost sounds like it does when you try and put it in 4 low wile moving. Maybe a issue with one of the shift rails moving around. Unfortunantlly it sounds like damage has already been done.

The youtube is a little clearer - I agree: would not drive until you can get it back to K&H, just to play it safe.

Doesn't sound good. Did you make sure the shifter was not knocked out of 2HI? it sounds like the hi/low shifter is moving around. Crawl under and make sure the linkage is not bound up.

Sounds like the linkage is not adjusted correctly and is holding the hi/low collar out of its correct position.

Have you tried to shift it in and out of 4wd ?

Nevermind - didn't reload page.

BUT - Reminds me of this video: At around 4:50

Joey don't bother buying a lotto ticket with your s***ty luck you have ZERO chance of winning. My original offer still stands it sounds like the truck just hates you.

My luck I would buy the winning one and then lose the ticket.

So being as it passed smog does that mean $550? I guess I could settle for $500. Spike was generous enough to offer $500. Doesn't sound do bad right now.

I'm not sure it's the same noise. I can definitely shift the transfer without an issue.

That's a cool link though. I need to watch all of them while I'm waiting for the tow truck.
