My weber is going out and I don't really want to attempt to replace all the vacuums to go back to the aisin. Downey sells a holley adapter kit and I know I could get a carb for cheap and easily rebuild it. Any woes against this? I haven't seen anything about them around mud.

THe Holley is a perfectly serviceable carb.

It does take a bit of tweaking to make run perfectly at angles tho..

If you can, get an older Aisin without all of the hoses.. They work great with minimal fuss..

this carb issue is going round and round lately...very interesting

if you could find a holly 2bbl off of a 85 dodge ram 318 i think you will like it ,mine runs great have not had any problems 4wheeling paragon when they were open very nice throltle responce thru all gears .....just my .02 ...................... happy new year from us here@ the candoggrage...............................cando john

A Holley 350 CFM should be easy to find and Downey claims to know how to make them work, but having tried both, I'd say stick with what you have. What symptoms are you experiencing anyway? Cold always brings out the beast in a less-than-perfect system. If it's cold where you are, you have a header and no fluid heat riser, that's most likely the issue right there.

Downey has made the Holley's run well, as have I.

It is not just a claim. And IMHO, the Webber is no better than the Holley..

If you are gonna change, either take your old carb to Jim C Or Mark for a Desmog rebuild, or get an older AIsin carb..

Ok so if I were to get a aisin off of a older 2f I could go without all of the hoses? I'm sure this is not right but as off now I only have one vacuum line coming off my weber.

If I were to go with a holley I could get one out of a circle track racers that is modified to handle high angles.

True.... I had a model number 2100 on my 40 with a special milled aluminum adapter it was a trick......never did get smaller enough jets . I would go with Webber if you insist on not going OEM.

one of my parts trucks has a holley on it if you are interested. I don't know anything about it. It has all the mounting stuff and a stock air filter cover modified to work with it. I don't know about a "circle track" carb. we bend the rules with our carbs and they would be way too much fuel. we run rochesters, but everybody bends the rules with any carb

If it were me...do not use holly...I have two of them with the adapters...I'd pay you to take away but I wouldn't feel right...Unless you like always tweaking, sucking fuel down like an alcoholic...and always flooding on a hill....just my opinion.

Weber is better..

Carbs are not my forte that why I asked. I'm considering going back to OE if I can go without the tons of vacuums.

I have heard some carbs from over seas have less emmisions on them...OME and Weber are both great carbs also! You can still buy a new Weber carb that should fit.

I don't know this company...but here one is on Ebay

I'd check with your Downey's, Man-A-Fre's, Spectors first...they may have a weber option...I've had both webor and Holley.

ALL the overseas carbs are emission free. Its only the NA carbs that are saddled with it:D

Even the 81-87 USA carb is very simple to desmog totally, like the weber or holley.

Basically, cap off every vac fitting on the carb, then connect anything that is wanted for better running, like a vac advance hose or a choke breaker or a AC idle up.
