I got my pics from my air rail removal. 14MM 1.5 pitch plug on the fender and pic of installed plugs. Note the blue high temp loctite. Drove it 2 days and no leaks noted.

Looks good, where did you source those plugs?
True Value Hardware

I'm glad I asked, I never would have thought a local hardware store would have hex metric plugs.

Question is that an allen head plug? In one picture it looks like one and the other with the locktight i cant tell. What does the air rail do? must not be important and what would be wrong with it leaking? I have holes in mine.

Air rail is for the air injection system into the exhaust to inhibit backfire and complete the burning process with introduction of new oxygen, especially on compression braking situations, etc.

Anyway, you shouldn't have holes in there, it would cause an exhaust leak in the engine compartment and decrease (slightly I'm sure) your torque, not to mention I would assume being quite loud.

The plug on the fender and the ones installed in the head are the same ones. Hex head. As mentioned by the other poster, the injection is a 70's answer to emissions outputs, pumping air into the exhaust to keep emissions outputs down.

thanks for the pic, i was actually wondering how far down to take them, so i see you took it all the way down to the head. i haven't had a chance to get out and look at it again.

Yeah, there is a little connector between the head and the rail, so make sure you take it all the way down to the head. On mine the connector tried to unscrew from the air rail so I had to "persuade" it...

Does anyone have some better pictures? I'm looking for the best plug and this one has me confussed. I would like one like this but can't find a 14mm thread 1.5.

I ran american plugs in mine ;)

Why not just use an oem plug? I did, works great, a little more expensive but built specific for those holes. The right length and shape at the bottom to plug the hole. Check out the pic:

I can get some

what about cutting and filling the OEM's with weld material? (true value here didn't have em)
If you run out of options, I can get a set and mail them to you.
