I finalized the mounting of my winch with new 5/8ths synthetic rope, a new fairlead and PTO shift knob/shift plate.

I was able to splice in a new crush proof thimble on some synthetic winch rope to finalize the installation of my PTO. The aluminum bling fairlead was a bit of a treat to myself, but does show how you can modify the OE winch to accept this type of fairlead. I also was able to finally use the PTO winch knob I had sitting on the shelf. I did fabricate up a PTO shift plate guard. I plan on powdercoating the plate red and mounting with stainless steel bolts to the tranny hump.

That's awesome! I have been thinking about whether it was possible to run synthetic line on an OEM PTO by changing out the roller fairleads. Pretty cool idea to use the aluminum style like. How did you attach it? More pics please.

thanks...I removed the the front rollers, actually had to cut them out as the long bolts were frozen. I then welded in some rectangular shaped 1/4 inch. I circled one side of that. I then drilled holes for 12 or 14 MM bolts and mounted the fairlead. I wanted the fairlead recessed a bit and protected by some of the tabs on the winch itself. I think this position does the trick. It is also somewhat easy to remove if I go back to stock rollers at some point.

I finished the PTO shift plate this evening. This plate prevents the unintentional activation of the PTO while in gear. I saw a picture of an original plate from Toyota and fabbed up my own. I backed it with some 1/4 foam and powdercoated it in red......

you did a real nice job on the shift plate... you up for makeing more? I would be in for one for sure!

Thanks. I made an extra one. If you are interested hit me with a PM.

I guess I could make up more if there was a demand for them. I would be happy to. Setting up for powder coating is a chore, so I wouldn't want to do it for just a few. I ordered the parts online, so that would need to happen again. I am about to travel for 2 months this summer, so this is possible in the late summer or early fall. Probably best to hit me with a PM if you want one and we'll start a list that way...otherwise this thread will be punted to the Merchandise section....not my intent at all.

Thanks for the compliment.

Signed up for 2!
