We are thinking of removing the OEM Tank from inside and putting an AUX tank under our 40, My question is what types of tanks have been used and work well, Im not ganna fork over $500 or $800 on a tank, im ganna look in a pick & pull yard is I get some good ideas.

Thank you

Tom Mack

Used Con Fer 22 gallon tank.

$200 and had it mudshipped.

After you crawl under a couple vehicles at the junkyard the Northwest Metal Products brand new built to fit will start to look cheaper ;)

When I looked at Pick & Pull all the tanks were holed, it looked like it had been done on purpose.

I had the Confer tank for years and loved it. I'd sell it to you but a local guy has first call.

find a good fab shop and get one custom made.
I checked into getting one made and they told me $250.00

but that would have to be DOT approved right? I live below MIAMI not to many fab shops here..and I dont speak spanish...LOL Ill look into it sounds like an idea that could work.

They have to drain all the fluids out of the vehicles on purpose, the easiest & Quickest way is with a punch and a hammer.

I think that $800 tank is alot more stout than a stock blazer one. If you are going to wheel it, go with the more stout one. Think about the ammount of times your truck will be pearched on that tank with the rear wheels off the ground... it happens alot.

I don't think the s-10 tank hangs low, to, and fro...

Not like the confer one does..

But then again, if you would rather spend $800 go for it :)

If that's the case, they should be pretty much giving them away, so you could have it boiled out and welded shut for cheap $$.

I have an aux tank that came out of the rear of an 1970 FJ40. It has been sandblasted and powdercoated. I went a different direction ( with a trailquest). If you're interested, drop me a pm and we'll swing a deal.

Sir PM sent, the reason we are wanting to move it is cause the fam doesnt like sitting on it, and when we fill up the fumes are bad, and she wants to make some speaker boxes to fit under the pas/driver seats. she is also want to get some new feet for it, she likes 35's, its on 31's with a 5" lift...looks kinda GAY plus the tires are 7 years old and have some cracks in the sidwalls.

thanks for all the info on this its been very helpful, my wife wants the new tires and rims first we are getting 35's, also just got my read DS back from being rebuilt and its 19" long so i flipped our springs around without doing some reading, i guess you just cant flip them around, sooo the DS fit perfect,,,,,well i did some reading and found out I cant have the military wrap end on the shackle,so i would have to take the packs apart and redrill the hole?. so i refliped them back to normale and my DS is too long. from my pinion flang to the T-CASE flange its 17" 1/2...ish, ...so im suckin now, gatta find a DS shop to see if they can shorten my DS to fit....

Yep, the mid 90's Blazer S-10 fits perfect - it even hugs the 45 deg. angle braces in the LC frame. I'd build a skid for it though as it's a 20 gal. tank & hangs kinda low. Nuthin a body lift couldn't fix though:
