I purchased this off of ebay the other day. I haven't gotten it yet, but I'm sure it's going to be a "pig in a bag", so to speak. I'm not new to the restoration process My 77's restoration....pics inside!! - ClassicBroncos.com Forums as you can see. Has anyone seen this truck, or know anything about it? eBay Motors: Toyota : FJ Cruiser (item 260205351482 end time Jan-27-08 17:00:26 PST)

The guy swears the frame is solid, and it runs. It comes with a clean title, but I'm afraid that may be its only redeeming graces. Any info would greatly be appreciated.

What about this?

From the pics of the Bronco, I'd say you've got a good idea what you're into here...

Looks like a lot of work, but nothing that some ambition, a welder and a bit of 20GA can't fix.

What are the plane? Buggy? Crawler? Restoration?

So sad to see such a late model hacked up with a Chevy engine. It's just not right. The cruisergods would not be happy.

Thats ebay, actually make me trust the seller more.

Bought some parts last year and still trying to get the seller to respond to emails!!!!!!

From the looks of that frame I doubt it is solid, especially the rear frame section above where the shackles mounts are located; a lot of rivets were used on overlaid channel iron. very prone to water and dirt settlement. Looking at your Bronco frame, and its design, seems to be a lot less dirt traps then the Toyota frame. I'm sure it will work out.

That statement couldn't be further from the truth. The EB frames were fully boxed and water/dirt would rest inside the rails. They would actually rot from the inside out. The bodymount holes were also very prone to rot. Don't get me wrong, the toyotas of this era were very prone to rot. I have owned my share, and I live smack dab in the rust belt, but broncos are a very close second.

here's a couple pics.

hacked up? did you happen to look at where the rear quarters used to be? the most valuable thing on this is probably the V8 adaper...

I feel sorry for you rustbelt guys that gotta settle for that.

I looked at that one and the other 1978 he had for sale personally about 3 weeks ago. I didn't spend much time on the red one. It did have that feeling when I walked into the shop that it was worse than the pics. Can't comment much. The whole situation was weird. The 1978 was in mid process of getting a quick restoration. It had solid parts on the interior and exterior and might have made a good project but the quick respray of part of the tuck was enough for me to more on. Good Luck and wish I could have been of more help.

I picked my truck up for under $500. I am going to try my hand at rebuilding the tub. If that doesn't go so well then I will get my money out by selling off the parts.

Well, I got it a couple of weeks ago, and it is definitely worse than the pics portrayed. One saving grace is that it does start up and run, and surprisingly all the electrical system is still intact. Whomever did the 350 swap knew what they were doing. I will not be tearing into it until my bronco is complete, but here's a couple of pics to let you know what I'm in for. The tub is complete trash. I'm picking up another one in better shape this weekend.
