Is it some kind of a harmonic resonator or something? Doesn't appear that it connects/supports/holds anything. And it's only on the pax side. Looks ripe for snagging on a rock or lock. Anyone remove it?

Several threads on this frame/chassis resonance damper. Some leave it on and some, like me, removed it years ago. Just one more thing to get hung up on IMO. If you take it off you'll be surprised how much it weighs! And I couldn't tell the difference when it was on or off the frame.

Thanks spresso, that's what I figured it was. I'll pull it off when the boards come off and see if I notice any difference.

It might be a laziness factor, but I was thinking of leaving that damper on there until my sliders come in (whenever that is). Will it be covered up by the sliders?

The bottom of my sliders is in the same plane as the bottom of the frame rail: So no, with my sliders the damper would hang below.

I am highly jealous of your corrosion free undercarriage!

Yeah, well mine was SUPPOSED to be from Arizona...

And "they" told me mine didn't have any rust anywhere. Right. Someday we'll get to hold the whip :D

I actually have shiny primer on the bottom of the floorpan! And did I tell you that all but one of my header studs came off with ease? :)

After removing the damper, there's a noticeable low frequency resonance at idle in Drive. The resonance is present until the engine is fully warmed up (most likely due to the engine's higher idle speed until "normal" coolant temp is achieved). I won't be putting mine back on... but the ugly gizmo does have a purpose.

Now you're just being mean. :p :flipoff2:

It tells you to search. :flipoff2:

And how exactly does one search for an unknown named item? :)

Besides, it would be a pretty dead board without a little churn, eh?

I'll listen to him, but I sure as hell aint following him.....unless I want endless parts to fail from trying to keep up.

That was the OLD spressomon...the NEW spressoman's driving style is much slower...at least that's what I keep telling myself  Maybe I need to take the Fox shocks off and return to the OME shocks...that would force me to adopt a slower style :D

Hey...don't you belong in the 80's section?! I'm trying to paint a new image for myself here :D
