I bought my 01 UZJ about 7months ago and the fog lights didnt work at the time. I assume the bulbs needed to be replaced. I got around to that last night but the bulbs were fine and the fuses are good. My high beams are also not on. Is there a relay or switch that typically goes out? Can any one give me some troubleshooting pointers?

Fog relay and fuse are in the LH kick panel junction block according to the EWD. The only common point between the fog lights and the high beams is the headlight switch.

Where your left foot kicks.

Checked the fuse and it appears all is good. The fuse was behind a black plastic cover. Does the relay sit exposed on the font of the panel above the fuses? There is a spot for a relay on the panel but no relay. That would explain why they dont work.

You need to get an FSM and EWD.:D

Thanks for the diagram. The relays are on the back side of the LH kick panel junction block. It is a nightmare to get to with all the cables. There are three nuts located on studs that have to be removed and then you can tilt the panel out enough to put your hand behind it and find the relays.

When I got my hand into there the fog light relay and the rear heater relay were missing. Why would these not be in there? As far as I could tell no one had been into that panel previously. I put the relay in for the fog lights and they work great. I will have to get another relay for the rear heater.

Would toyota have left those out if the original owner didnt order the fog light & rear heater option? I cant imagine they would have forgotten to install them.

No, all that was standard in 2001, couldn't get a Land Cruiser or LX470 without daytime running lights/fog lights or rear heating. Now, if the previous owner wanted to disable the features, then he or she would have most likely pulled the relays, as the fuses would take out other things too.

I am going to open the relay panel up again to install the rear heater relay and check the drivers door lock relay, but have a few questions....

1.Is the fog light relay and the Rear heater relay the same part? Can they be interchanged?

2. Which relay controls the front drivers side door lock? Is there a relay that controls just the front door lock? Are all the door lock relays the same part? What is the p/n for the relay?

Thanks! It looks like the fog light and rear heater relay are the same part, and all the door lock relays are the same.

Does anyone have a source for the door lock relay?

To bad the diagrams are not on there anymore:mad:

Where are you pulling your diagrams from?

I have access to Toyota's Technical Information System. The diagrams on toyodiy were just parts diagrams, though they do show quite a bit of info.

I would like to know where to get this relay as well as mine still dont work.

Is this something I can buy at oreillys or advance auto?

I would just like to thank you folks for the helpful info and diagrams on the fog lamp relay. I tackled this nightmare today on my 1999 LC and could never have found or replaced that relay without your help! So thanks to all!
