... was to sell Big Red. :frown:

Hi all, my name is Mike and I've been lurking for a couple of months. I don't currently own a Land Cruiser (or any vehicle except a little Suzuki GN250).

I never should have sold my old truck. Here's a few details.

Name: Big Red (I know, there's a few Big Red's out there).
Location: New Zealand
Model: 1983 HJ60 (ex Japan)
Mileage when sold: 216000km (134000mi) - allegedly, I never trusted that
Engine: 2H (4L non turbo diesel), 5 speed.
Other: Power steering, electric mirrors, a/c.

Extras: 31", Bullbars, spotlights, towbar, snow chains in the back.

Faults: The previous owner had replaced the leaky sunroof with a steel plate, the paint was bad, and the interior was pretty worn out. Also a little rust around the roof.

The Worst Part: I was told that the guy I sold it to wrote it off within a couple of months of buying it.

Anyway, we had a lot of good adventures and camping trips with Big Red, and I wanted my first post to be a "memorial" to the old girl. Feel free to flame me for being dumb enough to part with her (especially if you are in North America, where this model would be pretty rare).

oops

still getting the hang of attaching images... I'd love to add more pics, but it looks like I have a restricted allowance. Maybe because I'm new to the forum.

I'll start contributing more, and maybe then I can add some more pics.

For now, I am living in Wellington, New Zealand. I am marrying a Portland girl in Oregon this August. We intend to come back to NZ for a couple more years before eventually moving up to OR.

I want to buy a new truck once we have the wedding behind us and all paid off, and now I'm starting to get this crazy idea that I should probably bring a nice high roof 5 speed diesel (etc) Land Cruiser to the US with me when we eventually move! :steer:

That's the only thing that will redeem the fact you ever sold Big Red!

Just teasin' :)

Thanks for sharing those photos. Looked like a really nice HJ60. I love high roofs.

Those pictures work. Sweet :)

I like how different the dash looks.

Ok I am sorry to say that Cruiser was sweet!!!! Fear not...you can find another...

lots of rust free cruisers out here in seattle. when you get settled back this way you'll find the perfect truck (or a great truck and make her into your perfect truck.)

Love the high roof! That even more than the diesel would be the attraction.

When you come back to Portland, bring me a Wellington girl... Only seems fair!
