As many of you know I am an amputee & I just got back from the Dr and have orders to give up the manual trans. It seems that I am stretching my hamstring & causing muscle cramps in my below the knee stump which make my leg hurt like crap & my prosthetic not fit.
After 3 days using ice packs & not being able to walk much I am starting to agree with the Dr.

Putting an auto behind the 1HZ isn't worth the time or trouble so I am considering selling or trading off my Troopie. I love this rig so don't expect to lowball me or sucker me into letting it go cheap. I have had it about 6 months now and have done a ton of work. Still some to go so the price won't go down as I finish of the resto/rebuild :)

I was already on the fence as to what to do when we move to Australia next year and I really should have thought it through more before buying a manual trans rig to go travel the backside of beyond. But hey that means someone else gets a chance at a rare rig in the USA. Oh had it has been titled in Florida & Arizona without any issues, passed Arizona diesel smog (opacity) easily. Feel free to pm me if you have questions regarding your state and what the process what like for me here in Arizona.

1994 Toyota Landcruiser 75 series Troopcarrier
1HZ inline 6 cylinder naturally aspirated diesel
5 speed manual trans
Factory Limited Slip rear axle
Leaf springs all around and they appear to have a 2in lift over stock
A/C blows ice cold even in the Phoenix summer
Factory snorkle with Donaldson large pre-cleaner
National Luna dual battery setup with 2 Odyssey batteries up front and a group 31 Sears/Odyssey battery in the rear.
Custom fuse box in rear
Extreme Outback High Output compressor & 2gal tank in rear
Pioneer cd player with aux input
4 new speakers
4 custom bucket seats with custom frames/mounts by Safari Pacific, this allows a pass through from the front to the back of the rig. Also gives stadium style seating to the rear folks so they can see out the front & sides easily
Triple layer soundproof & insulation done to floor/roof/walls
Custom rear storage/sleep setup for 2. This includes a Storm case.
Custom rear bumper with swingout for the tire & propane tank
3 Rigid LED light bars, 2x6in & 1x10in, these are wicked bright
5 33x10.5x15in BFG AT's that are 6 months old
National Luna 52L weekender (not quite sure if this fridge will go with the rig)

The rig had some penetrating rust in the front foot wells & rear wheel wells I dealt with using the POR15 kit, rock solid and should be fine forever.
The rig has 494,000 km on it which is 306,000 miles, should last a long time more as I have recently completed:
New injectors
Rebuilt to new spec Injection Pump
New glow plug
New timing belt
Complete front end rebuild
Longfeld Lifetime Birfelds & Axles
New fan clutch
New AC idler pulley
New belts on AC & Alt with spares included

The rig starts & runs great and gets 17-18 mpg cruising 65 on the highway, 15-16 mpg on the trail.
It is narrow enough to fit easily on the trails yet has enough headroom to let you stay inside when the weather turns rough in camp.

It is Right Hand Drive which took me a few days to get used to put is worth the fun of owing.

I have been slowly rebuilding and setting this rig up to own forever, but between my recent issues cramping up on the Mojave Road and now my Dr telling me it will only get worse I have to come back to reality. Although I am just stubborn enough to go have a new leg made instead of selling/trading the rig :)

I will go get more interior & exterior pics in the am.

As for trades I am open to almost anything that reaches an equal value...1 rig, a rig & cash, a rig & trailer, a couple of rigs....My first thought is something with 4 doors & a FlipPac but maybe you can make me think outside the box.

I will be continuing to work on this rig with my 13yr old as it has been a great project. We will be finishing out the interior panels, rear door drop down table and some other stuff since we have most of that started or completed waiting for install.

I was pm'd a question about highway driving so I figured I would copy the response here for everyone else.
Should have detailed inside, underside, outside & engine pics up later today

As for the highway it cruises 65 mph at 2500 rpm which give 17-18 mph
You can do 75-80mph but it just seems more comfy at 65.
Hills are the only issue without a turbo, here in Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado where the big mountains are you have to downshift earlier than a turbo does. If a hill is really steep or long (over 1/2 mile) you slow down to 3rd gear and 45-50 mph....basically you are running with semi trucks or big RV's at times.
But the wonder of this rig is there are no computers to ever fail, you can work on any part of it with simple hand tools and parts can be found at your local Toyota dealer or ordered from Canada with ease.

Lance, sorry to see that you are selling it after putting so much work and love into it. :frown:

Bump for a great rig:cheers:

Took a bunch of detail pics for you guys and put them in a gallery I will link to at the bottom of this post...
But real quick a few that I thought some folks might be interested in..

First the roof is 6ft 9.5in sitting on 33's and I was told a 2in lift....fits in my carport if I unscrew the ham/cb antenna

Getting my kid into the back means folding the passenger seat flat and he climbs over, pretty easy for him but not something that would work with a carseat.
He also sometimes comes in through the smaller rear door and walks between the storage boxes.

This is the major reason (after no computers & all simple mechanicals) that I love this rig, the ability to sit on the rear sleep platform (either side) in foul/cold weather and hang out, or stealth camp when traveling.

Sleep platform in action, of course I usually have a REI 3.5in self inflating mat on here.
