1995 Land Cruiser - $9,300 170,000 miles - Southern California truck

The details;

- This is a Texas/Southern California truck. Rust free!
- Factory lockers
- 3rd row seating
- ARB bull bar
- Warn 12,000 lbs. winch
- 4" lift with OME J-shocks
- 35" Goodyear MTR's
- Castor correction (Slee kit, I believe)
- Hannah Quality sliders
- Transfer case skid plate
- Upgraded tie-rods
- Longfield axles
- Re-geared to 4.88's. It accelerates and cruises very nicely
- Hella map light
- Cobra CB installed in-dash
- Blue Sea aux fuse block
- AC blows cold enough to be able to actually inflict pain
- Engine temp is rock solid. On a recent trip to Sequoia National Forest the needle didn't move going over "The Grapevine" (10 mile steep climb to over 4,000 feet) in over 100 degree heat fully loaded with about 500 lbs of camping gear and dogs. I never dropped below 65 MPH, never turned off the A/C and the truck never protested.

All the recent maintenance you want to know is done;

- The knuckle joints on the front axle were replaced (knuckles/birfield joints, bearings, hubs, rod ends, studs, seals) by TLC (legendary Land Cruiser gurus in Van Nuys, CA). I am not talking about the standard Birf service for $1000, but a $2,700 total rebuild done with all new, shiny parts and up to TLC standards.
- Rear brakes/parking brake rebuilt by TLC
- Brand new Oxygen sensors
- New brake fluid res. cap and sensor
- Passes smog check with flying colors on 10/23/10
- Very thorough inspection done by TLC when I bought it (7/09). Everything they found, I had them fix
- Infamous Pesky Heater Hose (PHH) replaced with the $25 high-end green silicone will-last-forever hose and Constant Tension clamps so you will never have to deal with it again.
- Coolant system flushed and filled
- Transmission flushed and filled
- Brake lines flushed and filled
- Power steering flushed and filled
- 2.2kW starter was rebuilt
- Air tube between the air filter and the throttle body replaced with nice, flexible new one.
- Newer battery (not a sexy high-end expedition-type battery, but totally fine for its intended purpose)

Even better, the PHH and all fluids looked really good when I did the work so the previous owner had obviously kept up on maintenance. All this is to say the vehicle has been prepared pretty well and is ready to go. I never planned on selling it. I was actually planning on getting started on a rolling restoration and eventually wanted to drive through South America so doing things right the first time was a high priority.

The imperfections;
- The previous owner stripped the VIN plates off. A replacement was put on, it checks out and I had no trouble getting it registered. I'm not sure why he did it which is part of the reason I had TLC put it up on a lift and go through it very carefully. They didn't find any evidence of an accident other than a replaced passenger door. It is a good replacement and you wouldn't notice it, but the fact is that it isn't original.
- It uses about a quart of 0-w40 Mobile One every 2,000+ miles (which sounds pretty common).
- Three dents (one at the bottom rear of the front passenger side fender, one on the rear bumper cap and one on the passenger side rear door around the handle area) and a little wear on the ARB, but nothing very significant. You can see all three dents if you look closely at the third picture.
- The front seats need to be recovered, but all the rest are in good shape.
- The rear tires will need to be replaced in the next year or year and a half.
- The spare tire is the correct size and brand new, but is a BFG AT and, since a 35 inch tire won’t fit in the stock location, it sits in my garage except for trips. I was planning on switching all the tires over hadn't gotten around to it yet.
- Radio antenna mast is missing. The motor is still there and works fine. I have been running the radio through my 3 foot Firestik CB antenna and it works great.
Otherwise it is a great truck. I honestly wouldn't have any qualms about driving it into South America right now. It is very solid and I am just not using it often/hard enough to justify having it. Like I said, I was never planning on selling it, but the fiancé is going to vet school, I seem to be using it mostly for commuting 60 miles a day and we need the money more than the truck.
I'm not really in a rush to sell it (quite the opposite actually) so I'm fairly firm on the price. Considering what has been done to build up and baseline the truck, I think that is a very reasonable price.

Thanks, Tyler

I am in Los Angeles. I can post more pictures this weekend after I have a chance to clean it up a little (it is currently still wearing a bit of Sequoia National Forest). The three dents the truck has are all visible in the third photo I posted (above, not below) if that helps. They aren't very big, but if you look close you can see them all (hint: the dent on the rear passenger door is right on the handle - doesn't really affect the door's operation).

These are the other photos I can put up, but they don't offer much more information. Sorry, I wasn't expecting all the messages I have received and was caught a little unprepared.

Beautiful LC

You may want to make the price stand out a little more? Maybe list the price in a separate line from the whole paragraph and maybe in bold an another color?

If i didn't already have one i would for sure buy this thing!

If you consider parting out the transfer skid plate, let me know!

Great price.....

Thanks for the good suggestions!

Cute is an understatement!

Think of all the great off roading you could do on the road trip back to Tenn. from California ...

I'm just saying

ugh, all the good ones are so far away, great truck with good upkeep and price

Photos are up

I posted a bunch of driveway shots of the rig. I also tried to get shots of any flaws I could find. Overall, the truck is in good shape, but I want to be honest about the fact that it isn't in showroom condition cosmetically. I also elected to not have the engine cleaned. I always feel that people are trying to hide something when they clean the engine to sell a car/truck.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions!

Head gasket is an unknown. It is fine now, but that is all I know for sure. The previous owner did do a lot of PM that he didn't mention when I purchased it.

Any headgasket history? Would you be willing to meet half-way (I'm in Sacto)?

What's up with the radio antenna?

My mistake, I must have accidentally deleted that portion of the ad when I re-wrote it. Sorry. The mechanism and motor are there and work, but the mast is gone. I just run the radio through the CB ant. which works really well.

Still available

Sorry, I forgot to respond to the meeting halfway bit. I'll meet in San Fransisco for the price of a return plan ticket.

O2 sensors

So, I have had a bunch of people worried about the oxygen sensors. I didn't realize it would be such a source of concern so I have decided to just go ahead and fix them and tack on the cost to the price of the truck. They are ordered and should be done this weekend.
