You are looking at a one of a kind 4 door Land Cruiser.

It originally was a LJ78 with the dreaded 4 cyl 2LTE engine coupled to an automatic.

I bought this vehicle with a dead engine and decided to install a robust PZ 5 cyl diesel engine, turbo charge it and add a top mount intercooler.

I installed a brand new R141 4 speed manual transmission (and new clutch parts) since it has a lower gear ratio. I then installed a 2.28 low range t/case.

The original LJ78 comes with 4.90 diff gears which I retained for this build. This gives you a healthy 55-1 crawl ratio for when you are off roading. This setup works great with the 35" boots that are on the truck.

I had to swap out the light duty front sheet metal for the heavy duty version to clear the engine. At the same time a custom hood scoop was added.

Now that the drive train was completed I installed a 2.5 dobinson lift, one of the best on the market. It is a soft but stable ride for on the highway and for when going over the rocks.

I also installed a snorkel for that rare time the engine is submerged under water and it also works to keep the larger dirt and leaves out of the air box.

For front end protection I added a unique West Coast alloy bumper. This is a heavy duty version so deer and moose are no longer a fear as well as brush on the trail.

I wanted more storage space so I added an ultra light roof rack.

I also installed a pyrometer, oil pressure and boost gauges to monitor the workings of the engine.

This setup returns very decent fuel mileage.

This is a 5 passenger vehicle with tons of room behind the foldable rear seat.

It is equipped with power windows, power mirrors, sunroof, and wicked heater and of course a nice stereo for those long drives.

It is a solid truck that runs great, looks mean and is wicked on and off the road.

Reason for sale: bored.

....Good luck with the sell...........

payback is a bugger, eh?

That is the same thing the Native Americans said when they saw General Armstrong Custer coming down the hill.:)
Take care..................1978HJ45

I wonder what unscrupulous ways one can get a vehicle across the border and turned into a "US" car. I have a 1992 Japanese RHD Mini in Canada I would like to get down to Texas. Any Ideas?

well I know how to get it across the border "just visiting" but to get the VIN changed, etc....hmmm

well, there are ways ...

but

"never invest money you can not afford to lose" comes to mind.

$14K with stock bumper, no roof rack and stock tires ....

You keep taking parts off and I can just sneak it across the border in "carry on" luggage. ...............1978HJ45

well,
seems people are frugal, maybe next will be the turbo and intercooler removed ...
or i will just use it as my winter beater this year.

Not necessaryly true. That is what it still says on all of the websites but when I brought my rig in from Colombia this year there were new forms created that went into effect of Jan this year (with a bunch of other stuff that is a pain in the butt and can cost you if you don't get it done in time). On that form it specifically said 20 years now instead. Soooooo not sure what the deal is but that is what it said.

well then, if this is true, 3 months and it is legal for the states.
i will happily store it here should someone want to buy it...

you wouldn't have a source for this info, now would you?

If that is indeed correct you will have a flood of Americans coming across the border with checkbooks in hand ( and not just to look at the leaves and buy maple syrup.)
