I've owned a couple of 60s, 80 and currently have a 40, but know nothing about a 45 Wagon. I am really tempted to pick this up and will be looking at it tomorrow. It has a 77 2F with matching tranny and t-case. The seller says it has been rewired, but needs to have the gas tank cleaned and needs a new MC. If I pick this up, I would most likely swap my disc brake front axle from my 40 into this. Would it be a direct swap? What about the MC? Where could I pick up a gas tank if this one is too bad? Sorry for all the questions, but hoping I can get some guidance before purchasing.

The biggest thing with the 45LVs is rust--along the roof edges and floor pan. Then making sure that items like door handles and latches are all there as they items are somewhat unique to the LVs. For the fuel tank the easies way would be to have one fabricated off the old one. Mechanically they are like playing with a 40---for this age of truck you will need an adapter to clear the firewall ridge or cut it to clear the brake booster. I am sure other will chime in.

Excuse my ignorance, but is the fuel tank under the truck or under the seat like a 40?

Do you think this is a fair price for this rig?

ECo is correct...Can be rusty in many areas and parts are hard to find. I just put the axle from my 77 40 in my 67LV, No problems at all, you will need to weld tabs on the 40 axle for the rear sway bar thats on the wagon.. minor issue. Also, I used the booster spacer from JT and it worked well. I went ahead and did a disc brake conversion on the rear alsoll..The wagons are very heavy and 4 wheel disc are working very good now...Good Luck

Fuel tank is in the rear under the truck. Price depends on rust conditions and whether it is missing hardware. There are not many of these rigs around so they usually cost more.

I would see how that roof rack is mounted. If the wagon still has a headliner, and the rack is bolted through the roof and not properly sealed, there could rust on the inside part of the roof panel, and on the inside part of the gutter. And even down the pillars. The headliner padding is like a sponge and will spread water ever where.I made this mistake. But on the bright side,if there are minimal rust problems and it has all its parts(front turn signals are from a 69 to74),starts,goes,and stops. The price isnt very bad? Good luck

It isn't worth 6500 IMOP if it is 99% complete/operational and minimal rust. Look for bondo and rust- many have taken on major projects with lv's and you see them up for sale... Look for some build up threads.. Buckarouseau's is a good example.
I sold a running but in need of a lot of work FJ45LV here in Oregon for less than 3k with a parts tub and it had rust but was repairable- see Crosscreekjoe's thread. It is a labor of love and don't expect to get $15k out of it when you have that much into it.

Thanks for the the input guys....much appreaciated!
