Yet another FJ60...3rd time's the charm!

Haven't updated this thread in a while...but the engine was rebuilt by a specialty TLC shop here in L.A. and re-smogged. Also swapped in the rebuilt transmission from her twin sister parts truck. Passed CA smog inspection with flying colors.

And the first 1,000 break-in miles completed.

So nice having a 60 where every single thing works. From the Toyota AM/FM radio...carb fan...ice cold A/C...engine emissions...rides great...etc. etc.

At this point the FJ60 is basically done. She's now a well preserved truck with a completely refurbished drivetrain and 100% original paint, chassis, and interior.

While I've enjoyed and made great memories in 7,500+ miles over the last few years, I enjoy the search and restoration process as much as exploring off-road. And this truck is way too nice to nice to tear up off-road.

So it is with mixed emotions that I announce that the time has come to move on...

1984 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60

If you or anyone you know is interested, please pass the word along. If you feel the need to comment here or on the BaT site, I'd ask you to keep the comments positive.

This is the calibre of truck you'd expect to see in places like The Land Cruiser Heritage Museum Home

Thanks Mr. Rogers.

I'll have a few FJ60 items I've been hoarding for years up for sale after the auction ends, including OEM rear seat fabric (brown/tan stripe and blue/gray stripe), windshield washer bottle, poly spring eye bushings, FJ62 rear shoulder and center belts (complete with side panels), etc. unless the next owner wants to buy any of it.

Wow. Now with all that dough you can hunt down and find your next project.

I would be interested in your rear shoulder seat belts if they are brown and you didn't sell them to the high bidder.

Impressive truck and impressive sale. Congrats! A ton of solid work went into this one. Some great ideas for the rest of us steadily working through 60's.

@LakeNorman_FJ40 How did the sale price on BAT compare with your hopes or expectations? Just curious.

Nope, it's just missing that section of US dealer installed trim!

The thought of pulling those other sections off the rest of the truck makes me fear pulling OEM paint off with it.

heat gun and dental floss.

Until just now I didn't realize it, but this truck just set the BaT record.

There's only been 2 other trucks with 1/3 the mileage that reached a higher auction price. But those were "no sell" at those prices.

The red circle is this truck:

I mean no disrespect when I say this but I think yours may have been an outlier due to a number of factors.
What is obvious though is that clean 6x series even those with higher miles and non original interiors etc. are selling for very healthy prices on BAT. Couple of those black dots just under yours make for some interesting reading in terms of miles and condition for 6x owners who may be looking to sell.

BAT has always been an odd site IMO but they do present the vehicles very well and that certainly seems to help with the sales prices. They are also spreading their wings a little with what types of vehicles they list. Its certainly a more interesting place than it used to be

If you wanted to bid on this truck six years ago…here’s your 2nd chance: BaT auction FJ60
