Some changes over the years, but most changes are wiring. Mounting base has four feet for bolt holes, where the common FJ40 rear heater has two feet. motor, lid and core should be swapable bewteen FJ40 and FJ55.

Title basically says it all. Are all the FJ55 rear heaters the same? How do they compare to an FJ40 rear heater?

early pig heaters and later ones are different as are the floorboards and mounting position; motors are the same but the difference in in the housing..........IIRC.....there are 4 mounting holes on earlier ones and later ones had 2 + they did not have a recess in the floorboards for mounting HTH

how much later lou? my 75 has recess and 4 bolts. i'm pretty sure when looking at my buddies 77 it was the same. maybe just the 79??

Rhino; IIRC.........there was a difference between the very early pigs.....prior to 72?; 2 bolts recessed....then the "middle" pigs with a recess and 4 holes and the 78?......79s with 2 holes and no recess which placed the heater motor and core roughly about an inch higher; HTH

Early to at least 6/'76 are like your 71. lots of wired changes at the end of 77.

have seen 3 different original styles on piggiesand same with the floor boards; seems they all had the same motor and "radiator".................about the same top but the differences were in the mounting base........question is when the cut offs for different styles occuredHTH

since we're on the subject i figure i'll throw out there that i replaced mine with a motorcycle radiator,,, i have it mounted between and just behind the buckets and it radiates heat very well.
