Headed to Wyoming in September for an adventure. Will be coming up from Denver.

Where are some great trails around the Yellowstone, Grand Teton areas?

Will be doing a multi-day off highway type trip. We will be in the Cruiser and will be self sufficient. Plan to camp most of the time after we leave Denver. Probably spend three-four days in Wyoming, One day in Badlands SD on the way back. I have ordered this book:
http://www.amazon.com/Wyoming-Backroads-Off-Highway-Wyomings-Backcountry/dp/0974090050?tag=ihco-20

Its on backorder and will get here when it gets here. (probably after we leave )

Anyone have any input?

When coming up from Denver, get off at Ft. Collins and take 287 up to Laramie. Then from there take 130 over the snowy range mountains. Lots of side trails and 2 track forest roads. It's a fun day to explore and see some high alpine mountain glaciers and lakes. Then once you head back down, head toward saratoga and that will get you back to I-80 to continue your journey to Yellowstone. It's not that big of a detour and there is some great county in there. I have a cabin in the Snowy Range that has some great trails around it. If you really want some tough stuff you can let me know, but here are some pics...

Head up on 191 once you hit Rock Springs and make your way to Cora, just past Pinedale. Turn right to get to GreenRiver lake and the SquareTop Mountain area. Then go up Union Pass towards Dubois - all dirt. Then head towards Jackson. Enter through the Moose station and shortly after the Taggart lake parking lot, there is a dirt road to your right - take this for the most amazing view of the Tetons and the Snake River. You will pop out 20 miles later near Signal Mountain lodge. Great Nachos and Margs.

Then you can go to Gellystone through the South entrance - Flagg Ranch. After you are done with the park, exit through the west gate and head down to Ashton, ID. From here turn left on Grassy Lake Road - all dirt - taking you back to Flagg Ranch (soak at Huckleberry hot springs). Then head south to Jackson Hole. (You might want to check out Granite hot springs) Continue heading south to Alpine through the beautiful Snake River. In Alpine, take the Greys River road - all dirt - till you pop out at Big Piney (McDougal Gap), head north back to Daniel Junction and you can take a right back down 191 to I-80.

This my friend is the best loop around the Tetons and Yellowstone with no tourists, free camping, hot springs, and great fishing.

This is the loop I sent my clients out on back when I rented built Cruisers for a summer...

I've been on a few of those roads when I lived in the Tetons. You are right that the beauty of Wyoming is seen without tourists.

Get off the beaten path to really experience Wyoming.

What year is your Piggy? I can't wait to get my 72 Piggy on the road again...

What years did you live out here? I was out in the Greys last weekend, the weekend before that we were out at Grassy Lake. Still as gorgeous as you last saw it...

I sold my 55 a few years ago. It was a 77 that I bought in Laramie. I lived in Laramie from 95 til 99 and Jackson from 99 til 01. I got my masters at uwyo and then had an engineering job in Jackson.

The billionaires were driving out the millionaires and I was just working class

Next time I get out there I will give you a call. There was a yellow and white 55 out there in 00 and 01. I had a beige 40 that I bought in Laramie and then sold in JH.

Take care!
