Looking to buy the parts to put the Mini truck power steering on a 70 fj40. Have the steering box and column but need box bracket, pump, pump bracket, hose and anything else. Any parts or leads on parts would be appreciated.

power steering parts

Andy- I've done a few power steering conversions on both 40 and 5 models using mini truck parts and have been happy with all of them. Saginaw components are more powerful than the mini truck stuff but the Toyota parts give a real good combination of boost and feel. I like Toyota stuff better than Saginaw. The above statement applies to trucks equipped with tires up to about 33's- when I went sprung over and 35'ss on my pig I upgraded to an FJ60 box and high steer setup.
Ironpig Offorad sells a great bracket for mounting your mini truck steering box on an FJ40 frame. No welding no cutting after you remove the old bracket it's a bolt on operation. No need to modifiy the steering column shaft at all either. Easy way to go. Hope this helps. Shmukster in PA

PS pump

By the way Ironpig also sells a bracket formoutning the mini power steering pump on an F/2F engine. My pig uses a mini pump with remote reservoir. Jim Chenowith modified a factory PS bracket to mount my pump in the same location the smog pump used to be. Uses the same belt as the smogger did, is tucked safely out of the way in a compact installation, and works great. Shmukster

this is correct. i thpught that since andy has 33s, a rear locker and lives in AZ he might do some rock crawling. hence i recommended going with the sag setup. the biggest problem i see with the mini stuff is the TRE on the relay rod at the ps box. they tend to bend and eventually will break when exposed to some stress.

if you do decide to go with the mini stuff, i would get the parts from lance at ironpigoffroad. i got a chance to visit his shop last year. cool guy, neat shop!
