I've got an ad in the main classifieds but thought I'd throw one up here too. I need an early fuel tank for my '67. Mine is completely smooth on top with only 1 vent.
Thanks

I got one from a 11/75. Can that work for you?
I read you thread in the 40/55 section. The picture of the 69 tank was a later replacement and not original to the vehicle. Those bumps that cause the relocation of the straps were not on the original tanks. Still think you should be able to make a stock tank from 72 or earlier work. The last couple of years may require some ports plugged. I would be curious to see a picture of your 67 tank. My 68 tank is slightly rounded on the ends. Sure this was done to make the tank stronger. While it doesn't touch the transmission cover shimming is not required. The tanks rest on the felt pads and is not suppose to touch the tub directly.
FYI the first couple of years of the FJ40 used a different sending unit that required a matching gauge in the dash. It is a smaller opening for the sending unit and finding a good working one will be rare. I don't beleive anyone sells a replacement. SOR shows the date of the switch (64?).
I had to buy a new sending unit but I bought a new one from SOR. Maybe it's been discontinued since then, but that's only been about a year and half ago.
