Wtb bj40 (or FJ40) Stock as possible

I am possibly looking to buy a bj40. I have an 07 2wd Tacoma that I purchased after I sold my fj62. I thought I'd go with a newer comfortable smart vehicle. I miss The old Cruiser. Anyway, just seeing if there are any out there? I'm looking for as bone stock as possible. I would consider a good fj40 as well. I don't want to spend a fortune on a museum piece, but this would be my daily driver. I would like a/c but realize I can add that later.
Thank you!

I assume you realize that expanding your search to include RHD vehicles will greatly increase your options. Most if not all of the Pacific Rim diesel imports will be RHD. There have been few LHD models brought in from Central and South America but they are difficult to find and even harder to find in good shape.
Good luck...............1978HJ45

Sorry I can not help you with the FJ information or fuel mileage questions. I have owned several Land Cruisers all of which were RHD and diesels. I taught my 15 year old son to drive one of the vehicles and he drove it until he left for college so RHD in my opinion is not an issue and adds to the uniqueness of the vehicle.
I have had a 3B, H and 2L-TE (all diesels) and with the exception of the 2L-TE they averaged in the mid to upper 20's in fuel mileage. Hope that helps..............1978HJ45

Hey php74, tried to send you a private message but it says you are blocking them... here is my response. might be good to get advise from other mudders about importing into the states.

I have seen a few other threads with details on importing. Depending on your state there might be different requirements.
I think you should search on MUD, youll probably be able to answer all your questions.

The biggest issue you might have is emissions, depending on the state again. We have an program in Vancouver called Aircare our vehicles have to pass, similar but not exact same. Diesel is way easier to pass!

below is a bit of info on the truck.
I am always upgrading things on it. Just last week I installed all new front side marker and running lites, replaced engine temp sending unit, installed hi lift brackets and am having the 24v windshield wiper motor rebuilt.

Later this week I will post some current pics of the truck.

its a 1978 BJ40 with a 3B diesel with good compression & good power
original 4 speed manual transmission. shifts excellent and shifts into low great approx 300,000 km on original truck & chassis. 200,000 km on engine.

-original factory heater is not working but Im sure would work if looked at.

factory glow plug system is intact and working properly.

EDIC motor is complete and does work but mechanic installed a mechanical override cable instead. Its basically a on/off choke cable. It offers more reliablilty. To make the factory EDIC work, the ground just needs to be hooked back up and the linkage reinstalled, less that 10 minutes.

too many pints again...

I had to leave the truck at the pub the other night, too many pints~! so i took a pic when I hiked my sorry ass back to the pub in the morning. I thought it looked pretty good sitting there right in front of m drinking hole.

Good thing they serve a mean eggs benny, it soaks up all that booze. Too bad about the cholesterol thing!

Ill post more detailed pics this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

cheers
