WTB: 16" OEM prado/Hzj77 wheels

Hello all,

I just bought a Bj74 in Vancouver and it'll be in BC for the next 6 weeks getting fitted with some armor and some baselining work done until I fly in to pick it up and drive it home.

I'd love to find some of the 16" OEM 4 spoke/split spoke rims for it. If anyone knows of any or can help me find them that would be super. Would like a set of 5 so I can have FS spare.

Will gladly pay finders fee of beer and goodwill and .... negotiable

Good eye sailor. I run Tacoma 16" for my skinny 16" but i had to 1" spacer front hub centric the front and 1" non hub centric the rear (for a full floater rear) does your bj74 have the full floater? Dont mind me asking who is doing the baselineing and were is it going. I personally dont like the two piece to many problems with leaks when you start flexing them I've found.
i just saw some tacoma rims with 275/75/16 newer 90% plus coppers ice tires that were studded for $550 on Craig's list.

I *believe* those are both 16s. Those same rims came on a few different trucks....the 2nd gen. 4Runners and the early 80-series Land Cruisers here in the states. Both of those are 15" versions.

The 16" that I *hopefully* pictured above came on the Hzj77 and Prado.

@wrongway around My 74 does have a FF rear. It is currently with Jason @Cruisin' to get front and rear bumper and sliders. I would really like to run 255/85/16 MTs on the 74 which is why I'm looking for 16" wheels.

Early LJ78 Prados came with 16x6" rims (as shown in your first picture - my truck btw). Later Prados (KZJ78) came with 15"x7" rims (shown in your second picture. If you go to www.ToyoDIY.com you can look up the rim part number and size description for the different cruisers.

You're welcome, and thanks for the compliment. I've done a lot of work to the truck, and really love it. The tires in that pic are 235/85/16. I started small when I bought the truck, as I did not want to place too much load on the 2LTE until I had it sorted out. Next size will be 255/85/16, as truck is running cool and making excellent power now. I think 255/85/16 is the perfect size for a 70 series.

So has Jason steered you to the other local shops for rims. I think everyone wants 16" rims , but you might get lucky being two piece.

No luck so far. Easy to find a set of 15s down in Seattle, but really holding out for 16s.

To add fuel to the fire, 255/85/16 MTs are E rated and 33.3" diameter. 33x10.5x15 are C rated and 32.8"

J Cruisers in Armstrong had some one a wrecked prado a while back. not sure if they still do but worth a try

Fwiw Mickey Thompson classic III fit like a charm. I ended up going that route in a 16x8 with 3 5/8" BS. I understand if you to go the factory route however.

The 16x6 OEM prado wheels have a 3.75" backspacing correct? Meaning I won't have to use spacers to run them on the BJ74? The 74 calls for a 3.5"BS I believe.

Hey fireball, sorry I have not had a chance to look yet. I'll pull one off my truck tomorrow sometime and let you know. Just been too busy with family/work this week to get to it. I'm pretty sure they'll be around 0mm offset though. Also, I've read the later Prado 15x7 rims are -20mm offset. Would make sense.

If they are 6"w rims then 0 offset would be 3.5"BS which is what I need! When you get a chance that Will be super helpful.

I am planning on going to the guys house in swapping out the wheels right before I drive across the border, so if I need spacers will need to have those on hand ahead of time. Many thanks!
