would 33" tires fit in the LC 200 without a suspension lift?

For those that have gone with a 33" tire (ie. 275/70-R18) how has that impacted your gearing? Any issue with gear hunting or not being able to drive in the over drive gears at highway speed?
I am also interested in this question.
Just received my 20" rims for my 2016 LX.
I've chosen the Michelin Defender LTX.
Question: Any downside of running them in 275/60R20 as I would like the extra sidewall?
Or stick with 275/55R20.
 
I installed some BFG KO2 275/70-R18 on my completely stock 2009. No rubbing at all which is a bit surprising because they look really crowded up front.

Not a 2016 but The wife's LX is running 275/60/20s with no issues and no apparent impact to trans operation. Fills out the wheel wells a bit more.

That looks nice. Mine came with the 21s and 275/50 Dunlops and no other company makes them in this size or something a bit bigger. Hence the decision to change them to the 20" rims that came on the 2013-2015 lx570 to have a better ride and all round tire with the Michelin defenders.
 
tks for your comments. think would rather buy 32-32.5" tires for the time being and avoid the 2" lift as not in a mood of having complications post modification....

Also, regarding highway speed. 275.70.18 and it rips up the mountain passes just like stock. At 80mph, im just under 2k. Iirc.
 
Had the wheels mounted today with Michelin Defenders 275/60r20 and I am impressed by them. Will post pics soon.

These are P275/60-20 and are going on a LX570, right?

For 20" wheels, the Lexus recommended tires are P285/50-20 inflated to 33psi Front / 35psi Rear. This yields Load Limits of 2315 pounds in the Front and 2403 pounds in the rear.

For your P275/60-20 tires to have the same Load Limits, the recommended Cold Tire Inflation Pressures would be 28psi Front (Load Limit 2340 pounds) / 30psi Rear (Load Limit 2421 pounds).

Bottom line: 28psi Front / 30psi Rear


Based on new info, my original recommendation has changed to 33psi F/R. This retains the original "spring rate" of the OEM P275/50R21 tires @33psi F/R and provides a slightly higher Load Limit than specified for the Land Cruiser (2535 pounds vs. 2512 pounds).

Wow. 28? That's the lowest PSI I've ever heard you specify.

Yes it is for the LX570. They came with the 275/50-21 and the recommended inflation was 33 front and 33 rear.
They currently ride really well as I have 20% more sidewall than before.
Anyways, is there any harm from keeping them as they are and not lowering because the fronts look a bit low.

Absolutely no harm at all. In light of your new info, I'd suggest retaining the same "spring rate" of your OEM tires and run 33psi Front/Rear. You'll have plenty of Load Limit at that pressure, so no worries.

New bottom line: 33psi Front/Rear

@gaijin just curious do the tires load ratings have any part in the calculations. Say a D vs. and E in the same size?

The short answer is, "No."

For the same size LT tire, differences in Load Range (C, D, E, F) do not affect the Load Limits at inflation pressures below the maximum inflation pressure.

For example, a LT285/70R17 Load Range C tire will have the same LC200 recommended Cold Tire Inflation Pressure of 40psi F/R as that same size tire in Load Range D or Load Range E - all 40psi F/R for a Load Limit of 2315 pounds.

What does change with different Light Truck tire Load Ranges are the ply rating and the Maximum Load Pressure as follows:

Load Range B: 4 Ply Rating / Max. Pressure 35psi
Load Range C: 6 Ply Rating / Max. Pressure 50psi
Load Range D: 8 Ply Rating / Max. Pressure 65psi
Load Range E: 10 Ply Rating / Max. Pressure 80psi
Load Range F: 12 Ply Rating / Max. Pressure 95psi

Note: The "Ply Rating" may not be an indication of the actual number of plies present in the tread and/or sidewall areas of the tire - it is merely a standardized rating.

good to know, thanks. sounds like I need to let out a few pounds from each tire on the wifes LX.

If your wife's LX570 is running P275/60R20 tires, then yes, I'd recommend lowering your Cold Tire Inflation Pressure to 33psi F/R.

What they are: Michelin Defender LTX 275/60-20 on 20" LX570 OEM wheels.
How do they ride: 9/10 in the comfort department and a huge improvement from the stock 275/50-21 but the stocks were a bit quieter.
Any issues: none whatsoever.... No rubbing at all with almost 1 inch between the tires and the front fenders at full lock.
Reason for the change: wanted better wheels for the snow and soft off-roading. Also planning a coast to coast road trip this summer and would love to take it through some of the canyons, mountains, and sand dunes.
Will post more pics soon.

I have to say the 13-15 LX wheels look great on the new LX. For sure a way to go.
