Workshop in the basement?

Having a bender, drill press and either a horizontal bandsaw or cold cut saw in the basement would be ok, right?

Is cold cut the right name? Its a chop saw that doesnt use an abrasive wheel, the blade is like a circular saw blade.

EDIT: This is what I was thinking of http://toolking.com/dewalt_dw872r.aspx

I'm betting that saw will throw sparks. Why not get a portaband and a good vise/clamping system. A bender and a drill press will be fine in the basement though. Be just as carful welding in an attatched garage, especially one without fire rated drywall. Sparks can still cause a fire in the garage, and fumes can still enter the house. I'm betting if pops isn't keen on parking outside in the winter he will be real unkeen on smelling welder fumes in the kitchen.

The saw shouldnt throw many sparks, just mostly hot chips. But I can just have it set up to throw against a concrete wall and then on the ground and keep that area clean of anything that could catch on fire. It also has a chip deflector (whatever that really is) so I shouldnt have to many hot chips flying around. The main reason to park in the garage is that my dads disabled and walks with crutches, so in the winter our driveway can be pretty slick so he wants to be able to park in. But I dont see any reason why I couldnt move my parents cars out of the garage to work in there. I dont think theres a big problem of smelling the fumes inside the house. Since there shouldnt be many fumes getting in. A lot less then if I were welding in the basement, thats for sure.

My other thought was to get a horizontal band saw. But to get one thats good seems to be a lot of $$$
