I'll get the ball rolling.
What got me thinking about this is a trick I used this morning. My ice scrapper has been beating around under the seat or in the garage all summer long the edge was dull. It really wasn't doing a very effective job of getting ice off the windows. This morning I gave it a few licks with a mill file to clean up the edge and it works good as new. I suppose I could have picked another one up at Wally World but this took less time and saved me a couple of dollars that I can now spend on more important stuff.

That's what's up JohnnyC, good stuff! I learned winter driving out here the hard way when I got here in 2000....I was used to Alabama...just a little ice, that's it. I didn't wreck out here or anything, but had a few sketchy close calls.

My tip for snow wheelin...
Stay in the garage and wrench.:p

The PO of my craptacular Neon left me an ice scraper with a squirt bottle in the handle to hold washer fluid. Excelent idea! Wear gloves though, that handle gets COLD.

Don't buy the Bosch winter blades, they chatter when they get cold.

Preventing stuck weatherstrip -- will lubricating oils ruin the weatherstrip? WD40? Kroil?

I think these are the big three:

1) ALWAYS carry a shovel
2) Have a bag of sand or kitty litter or rock salt to give you a bit more traction when needed
3) Have snow chains that fit and know how to install them

I assume that most people on this board have general knowledge about handling a vehicle in less-than-ideal weather conditions, but I wrote this page on my real estate website for people coming to the mountain with no experience......HIH: Crestline Real Estate - Lake Arrowhead Real Estate - Running Springs Real Estate (There are three links at the bottom of the page.......)

I put the 60 in storage. Fire it up every month and in the spring, she starts right up and off we go.

I LOVE Toyotas.

Anybody have a trick for keeping the door gasket from freezing to the frame? I've had that happen a few times over the years when we get rain followed by a freeze.

I dont know if this will work for door jams but I spray Pam on my satellite dish to keep the snow from sticking to it. It needs to be reapplied a couple times every winter but works ok.

You are missing a great time brotha'.

Once you get that 40 done, you will want to open that v8 up and see what those Irocs will do.

The best part is that a road that you can do in a car becomes fun with a little snow.
