This shows the three plastic gears you apply the oil to. I applied the oil directly to the teeth. I used electric clipper oil as stated before and i'm not sure what alternative oil there is for a job like this.

Old thread I know but wanted to say thanks for this. My wiper intermittent control was not working. Using the information in this thread, I was able to get the control out and clean it up. I oiled the gears as shown and popped the control back in place. The intermittent worked for a bit then stopped. I pulled it out again, took it apart and cleaned the contacts. Put it back together and plugged it in. Wipers are now working correctly. Awesome you can fix this stuff on these trucks like this. Beats $150 or more you would have to pay to fix this in a modern car. Love it. Thanks.

Pics of Wiper Relay

Edit: Sorry about the close ups and orientation of the pics but i'm sure this will suffice.

The relay looks like a square, black box and is connected by a wire and 4 other prong connections. You must disconnect the wire first which has a release tab (by hand or by screwdriver...just don't break it)

1st Pic -Location of relay is to the left, underneath dash on Driver's Side.

2nd Pic - Relay out of vehicle with screwdriver pointed at wire connection with the release tab.

3rd Pic - Pop top off gently by using a thin tool (i obv used a screwdriver...hence gently)

@worldspan - thanks for the photos. I'm trying to find information regarding the wire colors at the connector to the wiper relay that will allow me to correlate the relay to the wiring diagrams I've seen. I can't find anything in any FSMs for the earlier FJ60s that show the pin numbers and associated wire colors. That's one thing that's nice about the 1988 FJ62 FSM. Do you happen to have a photo of the connector on the harness side? Thanks.

@4Cruisers - Unfortunately, ive sold the cruiser and don't have pics of what youre looking for. Good luck though
