I recently bought a windhield frame, wipers on the bottom and plastic defrost vent things. I can't get the wiper linkage to line up with the holes. The driver side is in, but I just can't get the passenger side to line up. (I'm trying to get the threaded ends that the wiper arms attach to, through the windshield frame holes) Is there a trick? I also can't figure out how to remove the plastic defrost vent, I think if I could get that out it would be super easy to get the wiper linkage in order...

Well you've got a SLIGHTLY better chance of accompishing your goal without removing the defroster ducts than, lets say
trying to dissassemble a steering center arm with a rubber mallet!
You've got to remove the defroster ducts. They are fitted with barbed plastic rivets. You can drill them out, or pull up carefully on the defrosters (easier to do when the windshield glass is out) Either way, the barbs on the rivets will be useless when your done. You can order new ones and face the same problem when you have to disassemble next time, or you can replace the rivets with ordinary sheet metal screws when you are done.

Replacement rivits
You can get replacement barbed rivits at Lowes for about 0.27 each. Look in the speciality fastener section. There is always an Automotive drawer with something that will work. I think mine are GM parts.

Ok, so now I'm trying to hook the linkage up to the motor, but it doesn't seem like it wants to work right. The motor is from a different cruiser than the frame and linkage, could that be the problem, or do all they all have the same parts if the motor is on the bottom?
Two different size motors, two different size motor covers but, AFAIK, only one kind of linkage from that point on.

I looked at SOR and saw the note about different size motors, but my motor and cover will bolt up to my frame. I'm not sure however to attach the linkage to the motor. The ball on the end of the arm on the motor looks to big to fit the hole on the end of the linkage. Maybe I'm missing the obvious because my old windshield was a '71 with the motor up top.
