The CCOT hooks I bought bolt to the hood and hook to the holder spot welded on your hood. The bumpers bolt through the 2 holes left. No offense but I think it's easier than you're making it.
I'm definitely making this harder than it should be, sorry. I'm quickly realizing that discontinued parts make my life interesting. Thanks though

Yup, that's my dilemma. But I seriously doubt I will ever fold down the windshield. Are your bumper pads installed the correct direction? I thought the "fatter" end was towards the windshield?

Thanks everyone

I installed mine the exact same way the originals were on. Those things had never been removed as far as I could tell and removing them was a GIANT pain in the arse.

I believe that there are different hook/pad arrangements because the windshield hinges changed when they moved the windshield wipers from the top to the bottom of the windshield. With the motor cover sticking out of the windshield on the hood side, the old hinges would have allowed the motor cover to hit the hood before the windshield met the bumpers.

To rectify the situation, they extended the hinges out from the plane of the windshield, so the windshield moves upward enough to avoid the motor cover hitting the hood. The new arc of the top of the windshield to the hood comes up a little shorter, so the bumpers aren't in the same location, old windshield hinge vs. new windshield hinge.

So, if my information is correct, if you ever intend to run with the windshield down, you had better make certain your pads and hook locations match your hinges.
