Thanks CDan, that info has convinced the wife to let me replace the windshield. I was checking tonight if the glass was glued to the gasket and it is not....

So the next question, will the ppg windshield work with the oem gasket? Any one know? The easy way to tell is if the glass says ppg and if the gasket overlaps the edge of the quarter panel seam. And you have no leaks. Any help would be really great guys!

Worst case the truck will still go to the dealer. And I will watch the entire job.

My experience with PPG glass was not good; it did not have the same optical clarity or ?smoothness; ie: it was warped around the sides; kinda like looking through the wrong set of eye glasses. Not real bad, but something I noticed immediately.

After I got the OEM Toyota Landcruiser glass (not green, no top tint, not what they put in the LX450) , I again noticed a difference; this time an immediate improvement; back to normal.

The PPG glass did leak, but this was I believe mostly due to the fact
that the installer used absolutely no adhesive/sealant.
It also appeared to my eye to be very slightly thinner than the OEM glass, slightly.

Good luck.

I checked the ppg glass for distortion. It looks good. So I am hoping to use it.

So where can I find the sunstar 9002 t primer and Sikaflex 256 HV.

I am guessing that the sikaflex is a UV (IE 256..) curable silicon based adhesive. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks

I will measure the glass thickness when it is out.

The Sikaflex is a polyurethane adhesive

I would guess any shop that sells/mixes autobody paint, solvents, bodyshop tools, etc would carry these items??

Google it?
