Randomly the windscreen washers have stopped working - rarely used. Wipers are still fine so it's not a fuse. Can't hear the pump working when stalk is engaged. Anyone else faced this issue and any fix apart from replacing the pump?

I've faced it a couple of times and the fault has been in the switch.
So I suggest you do a bit of testing before presuming it's the pump.
It could be the pump. But it would be a good idea to test it first.

You might try pulling one of the hoses loose at a hood nozzle. i.e., check the easiest item first. This should allow you to confirm that you system is working and you have plugged nozzles that you can replace.
If you don't have water, then you can start checking the rest of he system, one element at a time.

Good luck

Yes, that's the first place I would check.

There is a loom connector underneath the steering column. If you look at a wiring diagram and work out what colours the two wires are, you can short them out to see if the washer works.

Second thing I would check, is apply power directly to the washer pump motor to test it.

Hello,

Sometimes the nozzles become plugged and liquid cannot flow. When that happens, the pump does not work.

Before attempting anything else, it is worth cleaning the nozzles. As mentioned above, loosening a nozzle hose and checking for fluid flow is worth doing as well.

A piece of wire or an interdental brush come in handy to clean nozzles.

I dealt with this last weekend. I used electronics cleaner and hosed out the stalk switch innards. I'm sure it had 29 years of Middle East dust and grit in it. So far, so good.

We encountered exactly this with our FZJ70 that we imported from Saudi Arabia. Even with multiple cleanings as Juan outlined, one nozzle would only produce a drizzle so I replaced both nozzles. She works like a charm now.
