Hey Guys,

I need some technical knowledge and confirmation on a potential project which is coming up on my BJ71.

Truck is an LX model. Did Power windows only come on ZX models or were they an option on other grades?

I'm asking because my drivers side window keeps slipping down and the winder skips badly as well. Its been extremely hard to operate so i guess its pretty tired anyway. I'm assuming its the regulator which has died. So, i figured it would be nice if i could upgrade to power windows! But I'm hesitant

A while ago when i installed central locking i found sections of the factory loom lying in the bottom of the door, complete with plug ends and everything. Are these wires for factory power windows? I'm wondering, did all the factory looms come with everything pre-wired, but just connected to what was optioned on the vehicle?

Can anyone confirm if this diagram is correct for part numbers?

Cheers!

I'm not aware of a "ZX" on 70's prior to 1990. LX trims could have power or non-power windows. Most likely a few teeth have busted off your regulator. Over time the channels dry up and get clogged with gunk, making the windows harder to move and eventually parts break. I can't remember if any of the regulators are available. I've welded in new teeth gears from a 4-runner regulator. Converting to power windows is doable if you find all the stuff including 24v window motors. Although I have tried 12v motors (US 80 series) in a 24v system, they just go twice as fast and I expect they would wear out prematurely and cause stress on the rest of the system.

Cheers for the reply @SteveJackson

I've looked on amayama and the regulators are still available as far as I can tell. Toyota NZ will help me too i hope

@beno Able to shed any light on the loom and parts number question?

Cheers

Hello,

On some markets/model years, LX grade Cruisers had power windows. On others they did not.

LX and ZX trucks share some wiring.

It is not just the wiring on the door. Remove the plastic panel next to the door (the one with the fuse box cover) and check for plug ends. They should be there. Same thing for the other side.

You may also need the door handles.

Thread revival!

I found some 24volt motors out of a wrecked PZJ77! They came with regulators also.

Now onto switches.
Am I right in saying that 60 series 24 volt passenger switches are the same as the passenger switch on the 70 series?
I am thinking of doing the same setup as @fantic did (BJ73 Master Window Switch)

The problem I have is that I have none of the wiring/hardware in place from the factory. There must have been a section of loom that plugs in to take power out from the dash to the doors for the switches/motors. Then there's the relay which I don't have either.

Can someone clarify these part numbers for me please?

84810-90K00-03 (I think is the switch I need?)

84810-90A00-03 (What is this?)

82152-90K01 (Correct for the section of loom i need?)

82151-90K02 (Same as above..?)

85930-90K01 (Correct relay I believe?)

85930-90A01 (Whats this?)

Cheers

My 73 (1985) has no harness in the doors. I replaced the drivers window regulator with a new one from Partsouq the day before yesterday. It's so smooth now, although it does ride out of the rubber window run at the top of travel still which is annoying and I'm not sure how to correct it.
