My stock '74 front passenger door's window channel needs to be replaced due to rust. Spector's supply of used channels is not an option because they are worse than mine. Has anyone tried another source like from another Toyota model? or is the channel another unique piece only made for the FJ55?

John, forgive my ignorance, are you talking about the whole frame section above the door shell or a piece low inside the door shell? And '74 is the same as later year models?

A '74 Pig should have the one-piece front door windows (no windwing) and the sharp A-pillar angle...
The upper window channels are the same from '69 to '76ish, when the rounded A-pillar is seen. The window channel did not change between the early wind-wing doors and the early one-piece window...(I like windwings, so I installed them in my '74 doors). So any year door from '69 to '76 should be a likely donor for that channel...Sure, Pighead has a few spare doors...

Okay. I guess my use of window channel was incorrect. I was thinking of the piece of metal holding the window to the window regulator. There are two metal screws needing removal to separate it from the window regulator.

#55-R on the SOR site. The glass channel.

Ooooh....that window glass channel. That's different. That's probably different between early and late, as they had different regulators...
I need pics.

Way different. There is a drivers side on ebay right now from a 76. But the one that I pulled from my 7/70 is no where near like it. It is a very short run comparitively.

yep x 3; big differences in regulators; been a while since I had a couple side by side but you cannot use an early one believe prior to 75? in a later model...........as Eric states; the run is too short........but don't know if the channels are different; maybe a later one can be modified to use with an early regulator............3 pups also has a supply of later and early doors; might drop Paul a line........am out of state and can't access my early pig
