Hey guys, I posted this over on the 80 board...but, figured I would post it here as well since some of you guys are wiring experts...or at least are better at it than me.
I am in the process of finishing the "wiring" for my truck. I am running dual Optima batteries and trying to figure out the correct wiring for my Warn M12000 winch.
Right now I have one battery (battery # 1) powering the winch as follows:
I have a Heavy Duty battery Switch (4 Position) that I am using to control power to the winch. Right now I have the positive from the battery and the positive from the winch both running to the switch. The negative from the winch is running directly to the battery. The ground from the winch is grounded to my ARB bumper.
What I want to do is hook up the second battery to the winch as well.
Option 1:
My original plan was to hook the positive from battery # 2 to the switch and then be able to switch from either battery powering the winch or to both batteries powering the winch. Leaving the negative to battery # 1 only.
Option 2:
Should I also run the negative from battery # 2 to the winch as well? In other words do I need to run two battery switches...one for the positive and one for the negative?
