Doing some research for my company and found this Australian company names Sherpa leaving their winch submerged in salt water for 8 weeks then testing it. As an ex marine mechanic, I'm impressed. Nothing survives salt water, especially electrical components.

Yup, posted about SHERPA winches in Nov on the News thread. Best bet for 24V offered I think.
Of course, after 8 weeks you wouldn't have a land cruiser left to pull out of the brine!

Ya at that point your just winching the winch out... but at least you get something back.
