My brother picked up a cheap 8274 Warn Winch from the interior while doing some work up north and wants to pass it on to me.

The issue is that I have a front ARB "bull bar" bumper without the winch space/adaptor.

Has anyone cut of adapted an ARB non winch bumper to fit the 8274 or other winches?

Thanks Justin

I'm sure its not a problem. Welding and grinding will be needed as Ryan mentioned. Ill help you out if you like. I need to get mine mounted as well and this might strike up some motivition!

Thanks Cam for the offer :beer:

Mod'ing the old bumper is far better then getting a new bumper since I found out that I have a cracked head that needs replacing $$$ :bang:

Oh dear.... That sucks, what are the symptoms of your cracked head?

I was having some overheating issues (ever since the Tech day at your place); flushed the coolant, checked rad cap, thermostat, checked gauge some other little things. Brought it up to RADD to have them diagnose it. Issue came from a leaky head gasket and exhaust getting into the cooling and the heat eventually cracked the head. :crybaby:

Now I am looking for some aftermarket gauges so I can keep a better eye on the temp, possibly the Madman EMS1 but no one carries them in N.A.

that sucks man.

So I guess the question is, do you roll the dice with another cheap 3b, or fix this one?

For those gauges,
there was a guy early this year who started a little business called " roving recovery"

he sold the madman gauges, but seems his domain is forsale now, so maybe he didn't sell too many...

he was one of the bigwigs on the roverlanders site.

quick google found this, The Rover-Landers of BC :: View topic - Roving Recovery

who knows, maybe the business is kaput, and he still has a gauge in a box in the basement...;)

I contacted madmen and they said he went out of business. I found a nice 12v gauge from Glowshift that if you have a 24-12v converter is pretty cheap. comes with all sensors to do boost, egt and oil press. for $180.

aw well kinda figgered that...

plus I didn't much like sending business his way...:censor:

I'll have to check out that glowshift thing, that's not a bad price, probably really ricey and homey tho eh?:hillbilly:

edit.... hmm, might be a little too neon for a 42... http://www.glowshiftdirect.com/3in1-diesel-combo-gauges.aspx

I have a glow shift boost gauge in my car. It had funny colours and some squiggely writing that looked more at home in a honda (if you know what I mean)

I took tha gauge apart, heated a can of flat black in hot water (to get the pressure up) Did some masking and after 2 fine passes with the spray bomb I had dusted out all the colours and squiggles!

Now I have a "no name" boring black gauge that looks close to factory with no brand name logos! Just the way I like it.:)

I was laid off at the time.... so yes I did have a lot of time on my hands!!

This might still be worth pursuing. I recall him bringing in a bit of stock a year or so ago, he may have one or 2 kicking around. Worth an email I would think.
Would Madman not sell you one direct?

Too bad his business didn't fly.

As for the head, I am going to get a new head, I am not willing to roll the dice on a used 3B.

If anyone has a lead on the Madman gauge locally I would definitely be interested, I think Madman also sells direct through their website in South Africa...maybe a potential Xmas present looks to be around (EDIT) 550 Cdn, not including shipping.

Although after all is said and done after this head replacement, I won't have any cash left for gauges  so maybe the glow shift gauge is the way to go.

Cam where did you mount your gauge?

Just got an email back from the now defunct "rover recovery" company owner regarding the Madman gauges. He said he has no more and that shipping became a problem with lost orders, lost money etc... So nothing local.

Sorry dude. I do recall at the time I got mine that his supply line from SA wasn't totally reliable, so that makes sense.
The Isspro gauges are nice, but will cost you a bit more the glowshift you guys are talking about. IIRC an EGT and boost gauge were just over $200.

Westach makes some cool gauges too, including a boost/egt in a single gauge:

I made a small gauge pod.

I used small Autometer boost and pyro
gauges.webp
