Hey guys I have the winch and bumper now I just don't know which battery to hook it up to and do i need a fuse. its a 8274 warn

None needed until the winch motor fries and melts down your battery terminals, I think Jay has some first hand advice on the winch hook up to battery.

Although I have never run a fuse, after jays story, I would definitely run some kind of breaker or fuse.:beer::beer:..

if one was to run a fuse/breaker, what size would you want for a winch?

Had my solenoid stick on while spooling on the wire, right at the end when I was tightening the hook onto something, so it hauled the cable tight as f@@ while I scrambled to unhook the cable.

Be nice to have some sorta quick switch to throw or unplug when something like that happens.

I would not use less than 500 amp fuse or switch for a winch. The 8274-50 is rated to use up to 450 amps.

warning: all web-learning, no practical :wrench: experience to justify my opinion

Yeah I probably wont bother with a fuse...too $$$ and not quite how I want it now that I thunk on it...

I used to have a battery switch on my other trucks, but it was still under the hood and took a bit to get to. Spose I could mount one so its accessible under the fender...

Need some way to shut the sucker off if the solenoids stick again.
