Wilson Lake?

Soooo, I've got the next week off and am looking for a couple of day trips or overnighter wheeling trips to test out the 70 I just picked up. I'm taking the family, fishing tackle and back country camping gear. I, (we) were looking at Wilson Lake. Has anyone been up there recently or does anyone want to go? I've been to Sunrise lake and Hale creek so I'm looking for a new trail. Although the last time I did Sunrise was in my old Defender before I saw the light and bought the toasted 80. I've heard the V rock is much worse now. As far as Wilson goes, if anyone has been there, wants to go, or has a better suggestion for trails let me know.

wilson is a good trail for a mildly built truck. Be carfull though, there are some steep drop offs. Im not sure if you can fish there. the water is clear as glass

the washouts at wilson will prevent you from driving all the way through to the lake. you should be able to park and hike the rest of the way in though i think...havent been so i dont know how far from the impassable road the lake is.

how old are the kids? sunrise is a cliff, with fairly steep sections between campsites, so not so much suited for very lil ones.

heading up to the north end of chehalis this friday for the long weekend. bringin the 2 oldest (4 & 6). should be some other kids there as well. nice place to set up camp and go for day trips from there as its pretty central.

Mine are 2 and 4. That may be a better plan. I haven't put much for Km on the truck and should maybe consider a less remote first run the way my luck goes.

Just got back from Davis Lake and my first test run. I'm impressed with the little 70 despite getting one wheel off the ground on a decent. I forgot how tippy a short wheel base is after driving my defender 110 and then my 80 for so long. It was cool going through the tight corners I wouldn't have made it through with the LWB truck. Those air ride seats are the cats a**.

don't no how roudy it is going to be up there .
my kids are 5,6 and 12 gonna be a tight fit in the 40.Doh!

It would be great if you could give me a heads up on weather or not you made it to the lake

May head up that way tomorrow. I'll let yo know if I do. My experience is anything north of Mission attracts a lot of banjo pluckers and yahoo's. I've been in BC for six years now and am still amazed at the amount of garbage some of those retards drag out to the bush and leave it there. There was half a smashed up jet tub out at Davis lake today. It's retards like that who get every thing gated off.

yes, you can make it to the north end of chehalis via mystery creek...theres a lil trail just before the bridge to chehalis FSR that gets you to the northen tip of the lake. or are you referring to the north end rec site? if so...i dont think theres much of a campsite left...from what i saw on the other side of the river. chehalis fsr is open, but i think it ends right at skwellepil which is also wiped out from the slide.

Yep, this is a fact.

However, there are also those who care. Like today at Kenyon, we arrived in convoy to a quiet lake and there was three or four young guys, I don't know, late teens early twenties, who camped on the little island overnight. They came back to shore while we were there and they rafted back a sink, stove parts and general garbage.

There are a few bad apples but I think the barrel is pretty good, so to speak.

So when people say a road is washed out... does that mean something like a quad cannot get there?...(or a single cab yota)

Wilson received some attention recently by the Herd of Turtles where they spend a day with a half dozen saws to remove blow down. I haven't been up there yet though but I think it is accessible.

Accessible as in drivable? Last I was there it was 1/2 hour hike to the lake...

We hiked down the creek cause it was easier than pushing side alder up the road... saw some small fish in the creek pools....

Nice Photos of the lake, any chance you have any pictures of the trail? Looking to head up there for the day on Sunday and going to bring equipment for removing debris on the trail. Plan is to try to drive all the way to the lake but that doesn't sound like it has happened before.

I believe the west Harrison FSR is still closed due to the forest fire. Not sure if the way around the west side of Chehalis is open or not.
