width of mini truck vs fj40 axles?

i found a samurai i am going to hopefully buy this weekend. it has FJ40 axles front and rear. i want to swap out the fron FJ40 with a mini truck axle. are the 40s the same width as the mini trucks? wider? narrower?

the front has a detroit locker in it, but i am not sure if it is complete or not, so maybe i can sell it just for parts? it has the stock (4.10?) gears in it as well...

The rear will stay on the truck for now but you have dibs on the front.

Why would you swap if the work is already done? The difference is like 3" narrower on the FJ40. Some 1.5" spacers and you are done.

the fj40 axle that is on the front of the rig, er, project now doesnt have shafts, it has drum brakes, and no steering. id rather put the money into a mini truck axle than the 40 axle...

only thing it does have is locker...

so you say the mini truck axle is wider?

Well I didn't get the sami. When I got there it turned out to be more of a project than I was looking for. Will keep looking.
