Damn, I kneew they had some body flex, but to break motor mounts, thats wild.

Yeah, it sucks. After having driving an 80, and owning 2 XJ's. I wish I had that solid feeling (so my next rig will be toyota, more than likely 80).

OK Shotts,
I’ll concede this point to you. Notwithstanding driver skill, a stock Jeep Rubicon with the optional MTRs will out wheel a stock 80 series on specific trails where the 80 will not fit and not due to the fact that the stock Jeep Rubicon has better front axle articulation.
I’m glad you finally worked this thread of BS into a defendable argument.
You win.

I agree with that 100%. Now if it's not a tight trail, same size tire, the 80 will I bet out wheel an Jeep.

Here are a few pictures of my personal Jeep's from a few years ago. Both have stock arms and the GC has 2" coil spacers. Other than that they are stock! The front swaybars have been disconnected (rear is still connected). 31" tires on each rig.

I am posting these pictures because several in this thread asked for shots of basically stock coiled Jeeps.

Other than being good trail vehicles, both of these trucks had very poor reliability and durability. The GC was a nightmare of repairs. That is why I have a Tacoma and Trooper in my driveway now :) . My current Wrangler for trail use has been very reliable, and durability was only gained from many thousands of dollars in Dynatrac axles...

I will say this, if I could spend the money that I did on the Jeep over again, I would have built an 80. No question. I would have saved over $5,000 on the total build and been able to carry more than my wife, a cooler and two chairs...

It would have been more difficult to drive an 80 over the Rubicon, but it can be done and the challenge and adventure of using something other than a Jeep to do it would have been a blast.

Finally! Picture of stock jeep flexing! Thank you Expeditions.

Shotts, it's pretty obvious to us all, you secretly want jeep. :flipoff2:

Bought a 100....modified it...wheeled it....almost destroyed it in the first year running very difficult trails.

Got smart, bought a used 80, modified it, made it different by shortening it, wheel it hard, luv it.....get ticked off seeing those friggin' Jeeps doing all that crud.

2005.....hmmm, get a Jeep? Don't think so but wouldn't it be nice to go the same places they do? :D
