My wife and kids went to the Sequoia National forest and were standing on a small bridge overlooking a river, I told my wife “Wow the water is powerful enough to move this bridge a little!”
That'd freak me out!I had the Cruiser up on jack stands. Thankfully I wasn’t under it. It was good little roller.
I was in China and was in a 6.1. Old 9 story building, all the residents came down the stairs yelling. I stayed. Got home on the 4th. We left the house during the 7.1, seemed to last forever.
Woke up this morning and was reading the news when I saw this. Whoever decided to stop by Ridgecrest picked a bad time! I hope everything is okay there. We felt it pretty good in Las Vegas.

If by vacation you mean working for 48 straight hours for the news, that was me! After the 7.1 quake, i resorted to sleeping in my land cruiser one night in an open field! I didn’t want the big one to drop a building or tree on me! Aftershocks were every couple of minutes and shook out hotel. TLC for the win!
I fared better than this poor soul.I had the Cruiser up on jack stands. Thankfully I wasn’t under it. It was good little roller.
I fared better than this poor soul.

This may be the first reported casualty resulting from one of two major earthquakes that hit the Ridgecrest, California region approximately...jalopnik.com
Exactly the reason for overkill on jack stands. I use these 22 ton beasts. Each weighs 41 pounds. The Pin is 1" diameter. Beats cinder blocks and a Hi Lift any day.

Agreed. Wheels always under the frame as a fail safe. I also have a floor jack just under if it's not in use.I think a strong enough earthquake will still knock a truck right off jackstands like those. I'm old school and whatever wheel I just removed I slide under the truck right next to me as a fail safe...on top of jackstands and a sturdy jack.
