anyone know a place that will extend driveshafts for less then $200 a piece?

Western drivetrain in nanaimo was where I used to go...the tube is expensive so take the an old shaft to steal tube from.

Don't know what they charge, it's been years, so likely way too much.

probably some guys here that can do it for you.

I've even made a couple shafts. Easier with a lathe, but not impossible without.

welder, dial gauge and lots of patience its not too hard. I'm too out of practice at it to offer to help tho.

Sweet thanks guys, guess I'll be keeping my old driveshafts to steal tube from. Going to start calling around.

Following, need to shorten and lengthen the shafts for a 5speed swap in the future

Mike doesn't own it anymore, but this is the new location and I suppose he should still have the fancy
computer driveshaft machines.

Island torque converter does drive shafts, had some minor work on my double cardan joint done there. Awesome guy to deal with

ill second Island Torque Converter & Driveshaft. I had a custom double cardan shaft frankensteined from a couple junkyard finds, guy was really helpful and was reasonable $

Mike is long gone (Western Drive Train), sold land and shop, I think Thompsons Machine does it now...

That address I gave above is the new owner location. Mike moved the shop before he sold it. He had all
the equipment in that new location last time I saw him.
What did Mike do or go, anyone know?

This for your 40..
Just get a couple 60 shafts and cut them down.. Cam showed me how to do one.. then I did my front and a rear spare.. wasn't really rocket science just had to get it close with a dial gauge.. no vibrations from those driveshafts

He was stressed big time and his blood pressure was super high, not sure what he is up to these days.. prolly hanging out with his kids having a much better time..

There are some pics in my old build thread. Not difficult to shorten them as long as you work from the non tapered end. (some rears are tapered)
Lengthening can be done by swapping snouts. Snouts come in a couple different lengths. Dial gauge, V-blocks, torch, mig and some patience.

Yeah might just end up shortening some 60 shafts rather then spending a ton of money lengthening mine
