Just bought a '10 LC with 101K miles and would like suggestions for mild upgrade to improve handling and suspension. I have OME coils and shocks on an old Trooper but the LC is a different beast and that's my trail/hunting rig.

This will be my DD but I tow a small boat or Mule on trailer 20-30 days a year. Rig won't be off road other than fields and occasional mud access road. Still, I want to retain most of the OEM feel while improving the sloppinesss in the swaying and suspension. I've reviewed the various packages offered and would like to hear from someone who knows these package options well. Thanks in advance!. John

What do you consider to be the packages? Are you referring to BP-51 vs. Nitrochargers or trying to decide which springs to pair with the Nitrochargers? How much load will you have in the truck on a daily basis versus when you're on a trip and/or towing?

I've had good luck with both the Nitrochargers and the BP-51s but would encourage you to also do some research on Tough Dog as there are some happy customers around here.

Thanks..what would be the best search terms and should i look under other forums?

It will depend on whether you have any additional weight (bumper, which, etc) and whether you want a lift or not and how much lift.

For cost purposes I would prefer to stay with OME brand. Lift wise I'd like about 1-1.5"....I don't plan on added weight accessories..have all that on my 99 Trooper.

Here’s what i did: 2” lift coils up front and 0.75” lift coils in the rear for standard weight vehicle (no added weight). This took me to an almost level stance front-to-rear.

The difference in handling, cornering, sway and elimination of nose dive when braking was amazing.

It looks great too

Stay on the 200 section and simply search "OME" or "OME medium" then read a few threads. The same question has been asked quite literally several hundred times here, and you'll learn a lot more if you do some digging on your own then ask more specific questions later as they come up.

When I got my 200, I was sure I was going with the OME BP51 kit. After 1 year of research I ended up going with Icon coilovers. I think if OEM feel is what you are going for Icons will be better with stock springs. Make sure to get the CDC option. In 2 months they have 20% off discount which saves alot.

I have an 11 and went with a 2.5” OME heavy lift all around. Wheeled it all over the country and towed a ton of weight including my FJ40 from Yuma to DC. The heavy kit is a little stiff riding but if you are planning on adding bumpers, sliders, etc, it may be a good idea. Good luck dude

Not the OP, but curious what springs you went with. Thanks in advance!

I went 2703s in the front and 2724s in the rear. I have a ton of armor weight so went heavy af out of the gates.
Thanks. 2703’s in the the front with 2723’s in the rear is my plan, bumpers to be added later so not a lot of additional vehicle weight at the present time....however, I do haul substantial weight when camping, as well as on a very regular basis for my profession including pulling a heavy trailer pretty much weekly. (Musician) Was curious just how stiff the ride would be “unloaded “. Won’t bother me, it is a truck after all, just curious. Thanks!

Its a little stiff unloaded, you will get used to it. I have had mine on for ~4 years and have beaten the hell out of it - no issues at all.

I looked at OME and ultimately went with the Tough Dog 45mm adjustables. They work well, and with my current compression setting they do a good job soaking up the bumps while still being firm and planted. I want to say an OME setup is about $1100 vs about $1600 for the TD setup. Bonus is that I've been able to adjust the firmness of the ride a bit in about 20 seconds when towing and when adding a front bumper.

Have you looked at dobinson’s offerings? They have set ups listed for 25-50mm lifts and a progressive rear lifts. From what I researched, their shocks are a little bit softer then the OME’s. I don’t have any personal experience with their stuff but that is the direction I am leaning. Maybe someone with experience with dobinsons stuff can chime in.

Thanks to all of you for the ideas and suggestions. I'll be investigating these options right away.

Thanks for your reply. Did you only upgrade coils and leave the OEM shocks as is? Also, do many consider the stock rake set up too severe and is that why many choose to lift the front higher?

No on the OEM shocks. I did OME coils and shocks. What you keep is the coilover mounts from the OEM assembly for the OME assembly.

I felt the stock rake was too pronounced and like the leveled look better. I also prefer the view out the windshield with the taller front end.

I had done the same leveling job on my F150 so It was a no-brainer when we picked up the LC:
