So the small bit of research I have done points me to the Garmin BC backroads maps. The SD card version is the one I'm after. Has anyone got this?? Anything to report? And most importantly..... where is a good place to buy it from?
There was conversation about this in the members forum a while back... Steve had said someone in the Vancouver landcruiser club was looking into a club discount... I sent you a PM about it...

Garmin has Topo Canada available from GPS Central in Calgary, which are vector files ( layered info) and there is the Mussio Brothers digital version of the Backroad maps, which is just a map. They are two different products.
Well I picked up "BC Backroads GPS Maps" It has good features like
-Backroads and trail systems
-Geo refrenced rec. features
-Wildlife management units (whatever that is)
-3D mapping
-Searchable recreation info.
And it posts topographical map lines. I need to use it more to give it any type of recomendation. I think its like having a "BC Backroads" map only its in a GPS.
I must also note that adding it to my Garmin seemed to "crash" the unit. It could have been a coincidence, but uploading updates from the Garmin website seems to have cured the problem. Ill post more after I use it a bit.
Hey Cam,
Do you know how updated the BC backroads maps you have? Are we talking about 2008 or '09? Just wondering as I have a Van Is (S. Is) BC backroads maps I used for fly-fishing that is suppose to be new but it looks outdated.

I can't find a date anywhere. There is an option inside for updating it in the furure though. I'm sure one of the clubs comp. savoy members can take mine (crack it) and get it to anyone else who wants it.... unfortunatly I'm hopless with these nerd box things. LOL

Hey Cam, I'd be interested in comparing the one you bought to the one I have. I can also help get it working for you if it's still a problem. Stop by the house one night after 6 this week (Kerri is away until Friday so I have all the evenings to mess about!)
