I cannot for the life of me find my fuel filter...I spent a lot of time yesterday and tonight poking around my truck and the forum. I've heard that it's under the intake manifold. Even saw pictures of it sitting just to the left of the rear knock sensor. Can't find replacement instructions in my super well fragmented FSM either...I'm a little stressed out over this at the moment. :bang::bang::bang:

Anyone willing to snap a pic of the location for me?

THAAAAANKS in advance.

Its under your intake manifold.

Fuel Filter Location

I understand that the case, I just don't see it up under there, can't feel it when i stick my hands up there. Hoping to some one can snap a pic with their phone so I can find some common points of reference before I start loosening things.

It's there. Climb under the motor and look up under the intake. It's a pain. If only someone would just get off their ass and make a relocator for the fuel filter already!

Well mud is struggling tonight between not loading pics and pop up phishing scams.

Obscure pic but if it helps it's below the two halves of the intake manifold against block. Or it should be. Maybe someone got off their ass and relocated yours already ;).

Air makes a u turn coming from throttle body and goes back into side of the head. It's under the entrance to the head

Or you could follow the fuel lines

That's with camera at power steering pump reservior Looking back and in at 45*

Trace the fuel lines then. Supply comes up driver side firewall to filter in stock location. Then it feeds the fuel rail. So it's between your gas tank and your injectors :flipoff2: or you don't have one

Thanks for the pic!
Just checked and the mount is empty on mine...also I'm a noob mechanic so I can't tell which are fuel lines and which aren't Time for some more FSM I think.

LOL 10-4

How bad is a "no filter" situation?

While there is a pre filter sock in the tank I wouldn't want to run without one. Mr T put one there for a reason. Even though we aren't third world country status yet and have relatively clean gas it's cheap (but painful to install) insurance.

Then again I live on the bottom half of the tank. (See cracked gas tank threads)

Yeah don't we have a guy on forum that stocks land cruiser solutions?? Seriously though, my first post read "I'm at my wits end..." But I rephrased as I didn't want you to feel any undue pressure. :D

So, follow the fuel line (should be a hardline) from the rear of the injector fuel rail and see where it goes. It should weave down under the upper/lower intake halves and end in a banjo connection to the back of the filter.

The above labeled picture is one of mine. Look at this link when I replaced one of my faulty injectors and you'll find pictures of the hardline and where it connects etc. Should be an easy job to see where that line goes and if indeed there is no filter at the end.

Injector Service

I can't imagine how the filter could not be there if the banjo style fittings are on the lines - you can't just join them to each other...

george.
