For a 3b engine:

I have been buying delo 15w40 oil and wix filters from NAPA out by the airport for the past couple of years.

Wanting to find a source a bit closer, I just called NAPA on Douglas looking for a price on a pail before I made the trip and got hung up on...twice...WTF :meh: I won't call there again.

I have used other brands in the past i.e. Rotella, Petro-Can Duron, Castrol (mostly) so I am not brand picky.

Where do you guys go and what works for you?

crappy tire usually. sometimes the 5g pails of rotella go on sale, ( everything does at some point at CT)

the filters just a ph8a, kinda the most common one on earth I think, so I just grabbed them where ever I happened to be.

I have a gear oil pump, so I pick up gear oil in the big pails too. Changed the fluids in the diffs and tcase in the 80 the other day, took 20 minutes to do all 3. ( hear that steve & andrew...:grinpimp:)

Course now I have to buy a freaky damn filter that's 5 times the price and only available at specialty shops....

Did you bust off a bolt when removing the skid plate? We did! :bang:
Did your gear oil pump FAIL and leak all over your nice clean garage floor? Mine did! :censor:

hehe... good on ya though! I bought my 15W40 Rotella from Walmart, good price on it there. Gear oil from Napa. Not so nice a price.

15-40 rotella from crappy tire and PH8 fram filter thats what fits on a 3B

i have been trying to find a dealer for the purlator micro filter oil filters, use to get them at JB auto.. but they dont carry them any more.. best filter i have ever used..

I went to Walmart today:

1 pail of Castrol Tection extra 15w40 HD diesel oil $66
TG8A Fram filter $8 a piece

Hadn't seen the Castrol oil before...same price as the Rotella, alsomost identical ratings.

I've yet to run across a place that sells a Purolator filter. The one that supposed to fit the 3b is: Purolator Pure1 PL30001

I used to use Frams years ago but have been using napa gold standard ford filters for some time now.

Pretty sure duncan auto parts carries the purolator filters, I remember having the 30001 on my truck like ten years ago...( freakin numbers that get stuck in your head...like a phone number from elem school...)

they're probably affiliated with a vic shop?

US Walmart for Delo

I just got back from the US and picked up Delo 15W40 for $8.50 per US gallon at Walmart (price rollback), which is $2.25 per litre. Normally it is $10.50 per US gallon- regular price. I used to buy Delo in the 5 gallon pails (18.9 litres), but that was way more expensive.

 No, but I did spill a little bit of my beer at one point tho....just had to rub it in...

( and trust me, you'd never use the word 'nice' to describe my shop floor...)

Hahah... you did it faster than Steve and I, and we were completely sober! :bang:

i get the guy at mill bay auto to pick up most of whatever i need...he is mostly a older chev guy but will look for whatever you need, has to order most of his parts though so calling ahead would be a good idea if you are goin from vic but ya...call and talk to Jim at mill bay auto parts or Darcy at metro toyota i have gotten parts through both in the past and both are great to deal with...

check out the columbia fuels oil depot at bay and rock bay. they have both rotella and dello. thats where i get my stuff from.

1 pail of Castrol Tection extra 15w40 HD diesel oil $66

You might try here: P & R Western Star Trucks. About two weeks ago, I picked up two buckets of the same oil for around $50 a bucket at the Western Star Dealership here in Abby. They have had it "on special" now for about a year. Western Star is now also the main Fuso dealership. I did ask if the Castrol was now JASO certified. They weren't sure. IMO, it is a good oil. However, I do find higher start-up oil pressure with it than the Delo or Rotella. The other two also have a bit better cold pour point.

BTW, I do like the NAPA Gold filters. Although not an issue with the 3B, they have an anti-drainback valve which is far superior to the Fleetgaurd ones I had bought a whole case of.
