I just brushed off a stick-on balancing weight. What is a good adhesive to put it back on?

Has anybody used VHB tape for this ?

VHB or UHB should work. 3M has a stick-on weight system used by some OEMs. They have a roll of weighted rubber material with UHB or VHB on the back. The balance machine tells a cutting machine what weight is needed, it cuts exactly what is needed, then a robotic arm installs it.

I recall those 3M weights. We were going to use them in our operation but they kept falling off when the vehicles went through the shower. Really cool concept because it is just one part number to order.

The racing guys use 3M weatherstrip adhesive aka gorilla snot. It is messy but it works well

If you clean the area really well & use a 3M/similar to stick it to the wheel, go back over all of it with aluminum foil tape (commonly used on home HVAC ducts).

When I've prepped wheels & had tires/weights installed, then gone home and washed off the tire soap, and added foil tape I've never had those weights get knocked off.

Thanks for the suggestion on the foil tape. My tire guy also suggested tracing the weights, and writing the ounces, on the wheel. Then if one falls off, you can put another on.
