Doh! That makes sense. I was wondering about the 60 series steel wheels. Those guys are not light!

Apologies, I thought you were asking about the alloy 80 series wheels. I'm sorry, I'm not sure how they compare to the steel 60 series wheels as far as weight.

Yeah but they are still 5.5 inches wide. Wanted the wheel vintiques for the 15x7 or 16x7 option

I know people have mounted 33x10.50s on them but it still makes me nervous

Will the OEM toyota Hubcaps fit on these wheels??? I am dying to get a set

Doesn't look like the smoothies have the retainer clips for the OEM center caps...

But these do ;)

16" Wheels / Rims for Land Cruiser FJ40 FJ45 FJ55 FJ60 70 Series

We just need a decent source for the hub cap clips. $300 for a set of clips, or $1,000 for a set of 16” steel wheels, is insane. There was another thread about using GM hub cap clips from Summit Racing. Dunno if they worked or not.

I was reading on another thread that Toyota Caps can’t be used on these wheels because they’re too big. One of the members was trying to make an adaptor ring. Don’t know if it ever came to fruition

I have successfully modified Toyota OEM caps to fit on the Wheel Vintique series 12 16" rims. Requires no welding/soldering/brazing which would likely damage the outside finish of the Toyota caps.
No mods to the wheels required.
I have been running them over a year. They do not fall off. You can use your OEM hubcap wrench to remove them and tap them back on with your hands.
I am open to making them for other members or walk you through how to do it yourself.
Requires Toyota caps, Cragar moon caps as inserts, cutting/filing/shaping the cragar caps and a tube of 3m Panel Bond.

Fj60 factory wheels are heavier, I have a set of each in the shop. OEM wheel center is a lot thicker, even though the hoop is smaller

I'm interested in instructions on how to do this or if you are offering to sell completed. Thanks!

Hey guys! I spend most of my time over in the 80 series section, but I have a question for you 60 series guys.

I just bought a set of Wheel Vintiques Series 12 "Smoothies" for my '93 FZJ80. Nobody really runs this wheel in the 80 section, but I know a lot of 60 series guys run the smoothies. I noticed when swapping from the 80 series OEM aluminum wheel, to the smoothies, the backside of the wheels are different.

On the OEM aluminum wheel, the back face of the wheel is machined flat to sit flat up against the face of the wheel hub.

On the Wheel Vintiques wheel, the backside of the wheel is not flat, and is slightly concave. Essentially, only a small portion of the wheel is actually touching the face of the hub. Is this a problem? Have any of you 60 guys had an issue with the Wheel Vintiques Smoothies or other steel wheels?

You can get a better angle from the front of the wheel. Basically the "ring" where the lug nuts bolt to the studs, isn't sitting flush up against the face of the wheel hub.

I know tons of guys run steelies, including Toyota spare wheels. Are those steelies machined flat and sitting flush against the face of the wheel hub?

Thanks in advance!
I’ve run these on my 60 for three or four years now with no issues. I run wheel spacers in the rear as well so added possibility of issues. I think you’re good.
