Tire Size and Different Wheels
BFG 295/75/16's fit, but just barely, on my stock 01 LX470. They rub a little on turning when in low height (so my wife can get in). And the spare of the same size JUST fits underneath.
As far a different wheels go. Good luck. There are only two other (I think two) vehicles with the same lug pattern, and they are Toyotas too. But the rub is the wheel sizes are different for different years and models. I wanted sell my nice chrome wheels and get some cheap black steel wheels that I could rock ding and not worry about it (other than getting a flat). But I also didn't want to mess with adapters and or spacers either, so chrome 16's it is for me.
Don't forget if you stick them out you need to put some fender flares on too, at least if you have a good conscience or live in a state that requires wheels to be inside the wells so it cuts the chance of breaking innocent folks windshields with flying rocks when you pull onto the hard top from a gravel or rocky road.
