Replacing the cv’s on my 100 and when I pulled the hub flange off I saw that only two tabs of the wheel bearing lock ring were engaged (one forward/one backward - see photo) and slightly eschewed. No play in the wheel that would point to a failing bearing and it moves freely. Is that ok ? I haven’t pulled the other side off yet - doing one cv at a time due to limited work space.

That's how it's supposed to be. Couple of suggestions, get new star washers, those have been hammered on several times it looks like. Also, take a look at the FSM, available for DL here, and read through the hub section, may answer some other questions that come up. Good luck.

That’s a load off…! I’ll replace the wheel bearings in a few months my hub flanges and cvs were toast and I need to get the truck back on the road this weekend.
