Can anyone tell me what year this engine is from?

just below the white tag is the engine serial #, you can then look up the engine at Land Cruiser Engine Numbers - https://www.sor.com/catengine.sor. It has a 2F valve cover.

Thanks for the help, with this work in an 1974 FJ40 and is better than the F engine?

I have a 74 with the F.5 engine and 2F cover. Yes, either the F.5 or 2F will work. It has the oil filter on the passenger side so its the better option compared to the older F engines. I am curious though as the side cover is bent out and its missing the oil fill cap, no clue what has gotten in there.

Looks very similar to my 76 2F.

Judging by the looks, that side cover has been opened for awhile. I would be worried about the condition. Looks like it has been sitting outside along time.
