Like the title says...dream truck is a double cab 70 series pickup...when did they start making them?

If its 15 years old or older I can import it to Canada...

Thanks

Don't know what year but it is fairly recent as factory product. Several customized solutions as far back as the early '90s

JDM fire trucks were produced using FJ and HJ 77s - cut off behind the rear doors, with a high roof and rear cabin enclosure added. See below as an example. You lucky Canadians can buy one of these at auction in Japan. Production began in early '90s, powered by the 1HZ. They are usually very low mileage (10-20,000 km) and can be had for under $15,000 (US) plus agent's fees, shipping and import duties. Of course, you then need to pull the fire gear and fab a cargo box. Two photos below, one unit coming up for bid this month, 12,,626 km. And another one converted to civilian use in Mongolia.

Another option - Scott Oncken (eco45 on Mud, www.eco-offroad.com) has access to used South African rigs that were custom-crafted. Both gas and diesel units can be sourced. I recall he said the price would be around $20k+ (USD).

Good luck!

That is sharp.....a near perfect setup.
As I recall, the earliest 1HZ powered rig of this type on the government auction sites is a 1992, which means you would ONLY need to wait three years before you could bring it home. I am pretty sure they have H55F trannys and full floater rear axles.

That front end does look pretty neat with a small winch bumper, eh?

Thanks guys....bummer... Ive seen some that were older than 2012 and I thought they were just built in small numbers or something...

Now how to find a quality one with a turbo diesel thats like 15-16 years old???

my 86 turbo single cab pickup is too small for the family

In addition to the extra seating capacity, do you also need a truck bed?

excellent question. I was wondering when for the 25 year import to USA. the early single cabs are now just coming available.

Here is a new 2014 one I spotted in Colombia. with their high car tax it is asking $100,000 I think.

V8 turbodiesel. has manual AVM locking hubs. I took a video of it idling but that would just drive you crazy.

FYI I rode in a 4 door automatic modern Mistubishi 4 door pickup (cant remember the model. it is the one with oval type cab). It was the 3.0 liter 4 cylinder I think they use in the modern 4/5 door Monteros. WOW. it was quick and very nice.

Nissan and Toyota hilux both had turbo diesels in the 1990s yes? 4 door for hilux.

That just sucks...
Not the price, but the fact I/we can't have one here in 'Merica.

Yes I do need a truck bed... Wife's daily is a 100 series and it would do the heavy lifting...I'd love to have a small trail rig that's as good as mine in the bush that I could load kids into while still being able to daily it for work (that's what I'd need the truck bed for)

Well I think we may.... start getting diesels. there is a facebook page called ... please why cant we have 70 series in the USA? haha. apparently ford may do some.

Dodge has a 1500 diesel and while I like the dodge truck not sure about an italian diesel. dont know much about it.

I drive am F150 king ranch crew with 6 foot bed. 15mpg all day. very comfortable more of a cruiser for the highway.

You should the new Ford Ranger replacement in Europe/Colombia (diesel) or the VW amarok.

Both super nice

CHAS404 I just watched your video of that truck idling, you show the engine bay, fairly obvious that it's a straight 6 engine in there.
